*******Hancock Liquors
Sharon was walking through the familiar aisles once again. She pushed a shopping cart with her this time because both her bar and liquor cabinets were running low. She picked up some of everything, always getting more than one name brand of the same type of liquor, just for a variety. She picked up a bottle of Gordon's Vodka and examined the label, wondering if it was good enough to buy. She was so deep in thought she didn't notice the man approaching her.
"Excuse me" he said. He was a tall, middle aged man with dark hair and dark eyes. Sharon definitely did not recognize him.
"Yes, can I help you?" she asked, rather rudely.
"My name is Arthur Vandalay and I work for Woodwork Modeling Agency. I'm sure you've heard of us..."
"Nope."
"Well, we're a modeling agency and we've produced some of the most famous super models in the industry. I couldn't help but to notice you...stocking up here, and I think you would have an extremely good chance at a future modeling career if you looked into us. Have you modeled before?"
"No, I'd rather do something meaningful with my life" Sharon replied.
"Well, here's my card. Call me some time, you won't be sorry." The man walked away and left Sharon to ponder what had just happened. She was flattered at the offer but she held celebrities, specifically models, as the lowest scum on earth. She just couldn't see the honor in these types of jobs. She continued to look at her Gordon bottle and forgot about the modelling agency for the time being.
************Two days later, The Ritz, NY
The Backstreet Boys were having dinner with a few representatives of The Firm, tieing up the loose ends of the upcoming album and tour.
"Our final and permanent release date for Millennium is now May 18th," one of the representatives said.
"What is the problem, can we ONCE release an album that doesn't have the release date pushed back several times? We're letting our fans down, and with such a shitty first album we should be happy we have fans at all" Kevin said.
"That shitty album sold 30 million copies" AJ pointed out.
"Yeah, and where's all the money from that? Sitting in a fat fuck named Lou Pearlman's pocket, that's where" Kevin said, visibly becoming upset.
"Hey, Kev, ease up a bit, will ya? We're passed that now," Howie said. Kevin remained upset, but didn't say anything more. Just then the conversation was interrupted by the ringing of a cell phone. Nick, who hadn't said a word all night, finally showed some life and jumped for his cell phone, checking the caller ID to see who it was.
"Nick, chill out, its my phone," Brian said.
"Oh..." Nick said and went back into his dream-like state.
"Give it up, dude, you told her not to call so she's not gonna call," AJ said a little too smugly. Things between him and Nick had yet to completely smooth out after the situation with Sharon. AJ now detested her and thought of Nick as a fool.
"Shut up! I don't want to talk to her anyway, I haven't even thought about her until you just brought her up," Nick said. The rest of the guys scoffed, except for Brian who was still on the phone. It was Catey who had called.
"Yeah babe of course I miss you, I think about you every minute..." Brian cooed. Nick tried not to gag.
"Is anyone else feeling sick?" he asked. The guys ignored him. Then he got an idea. He began to nudge Brian.
"Brian....Brian...Brian!"
"Hold up babe...WHAT?!" Brian screamed.
"Uh, could you ask Catey something for me?" Nick asked.
"What?! This better be good..."
"It is! Well, I just wanted to know if she's talked to Sharon lately? I mean I think I left the stove on when I left, and you know its been bugging me ever since so I wanted to know if Sharon turned it off cuz if not who knows what could happen..." Nick trailed off. Brian looked at him in disbelief for a few seconds, but finally felt pity for him. He sighed as he went back to his conversation with Catey.
"Cates? Yeah, I have to ask you something. Have you seen Sharon around? Cuz Nick left the stove on or something...uh huh...uh huh...ok hold on a sec. Nick, she's seen Sharon and she's been over the house, the stove is fine. All right??? Now let me get back to my conversation..."
"Wait!" Nick cut him off. "Does Catey have anything else she wants to tell me? I mean, has Sharon mentioned me or anything?" Nick seemed desperate at this point. Brian sighed again and went back to his phone.
"Baby, is there anything else you'd like to tell Nick? Has Sharon, I dunno, MENTIONED him or anything? Uh huh....uh huh....k, hold on. Nick?"
"Yeah??" Nick eagerly awaited Brian's answer.
"NO, nothing. Except she has been drinking a lot, but you know that's nothing new. Now if you don't mind..." Brian said.
"Yeah, yeah, go back to your conversation. Thanks a lot." Nick sighed and began to wonder about Sharon's drinking. Was she drinking more because she was upset over him? Did she miss him? He certainly missed her but he couldn't go back on his word and call her, he would seem a pansy. All he could do was wait.
"EHEM, is this a business dinner or a social gathering?" one of the managers asked. Brian got off the phone and the rest of the dinner was spent talking about the new album and tour.
**********The next night
Sharon was sitting home alone, listening to an unreleased copy of millenium, drinking rum and coke when her phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hey, its Catey. What's goin on."
"Nuthin much. You know me, same as usual," Sharon said.
"Drunk ass bitch. Let's go out tonight. Our boyfriends are gone."
"Don't remind me...ugh." Sharon had tried to keep her mind off in Nick.
"Come on, cheer up. You'll drink yourself into a stupor if you keep worrying about him."
"I'm not worrying about shit. HE'S the one that needs to worry about whether or not I'll still be here waiting for him when he gets back."
"Yeah, OK! C'mon, lemme come over and we can go to a club or something. I'll see you in an hour." The girls hung up and Sharon made herself a drink while wondering where the night would lead her.
