I drove to Brian's house and Jessica answered the door.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I took off from work and decided to come out here for a little rest and relaxation."
"Well let me in I don't want Xander to get a chill," I said.
I walked in after Jessica and let her lead me into the family room. Brian was in there along with Hazel and Nick.
"What is this a little party house?" I laughed.
"Well we're all playing hooky," Hazel said.
I sat down on the couch and settled Xander out of his blanket.
"Oh let me hold him," Jessica said. She sat down next to me and took Xander out of my arms. I sat there watching her and started thinking about AJ. Unconsciously, I folded Xander's blanket and put it in his diaper bag. But when I tried to zip it I ripped the zipper off its track.
"Damn, superwoman calm down," Brian laughed.
The smile I gave him didn't quite reach my eyes. Jessica noticed this and stood up pushing me toward the kitchen. I allowed her to lead me, but took Xander from her. It was time for his lunch. I fed him in the kitchen while Jessica got me some bottled water.
"What happened this time?" she asked.
"This takes the icing on the cake," I laughed shakily. I burped Xander as I talked. "I walked into his house and saw a vase of flowers with a note addressed to AJ. I read it and it was talking about how he went to dinner with another woman, another woman Jessica. So I went upstairs to confront him and the asshole was in bed with the bitch," I cried.
"Oh my God," Brian and Nick said from the door.
We turned around and there was Brian, Nick and Hazel standing in shock. "I am so sorry Kelly," Nick said.
"Its okay," I smiled through my tears. Jessica pulled me towards her and held me.
"Maybe you should listen to AJ's side of the story," Hazel offered.
"AJ has no side!" Jessica yelled.
"Yeah," I sniffed.
"I know you Kelly, what did you do?" Jessica asked.
I smiled and said, "I drug Alicia, that's her name, out of the house by her hair."
"Rock on," Jessica said laughing.
"AJ is such a dick. He has a newborn baby and he's fucking around," Brian said in disgust. "I'm going over there."
I watched as Brian left with Nick in tow. "Let me call Dominique and Shannah," Jessica said.
"They're out here too?" I asked incredulously.
"Yeah."
She smiled and ten minutes later we were all over Brian's house talking. "You know what? I wonder what's going on at AJ's house," I said aloud.
Meanwhile at AJ's house Brian and Nick were involved in a huge argument. "Are you crazy? What the hell was that woman doing in your house much less your bed?" Brian yelled.
"I don't know, I had a little too much to drink at the club last night and she offered to drive me home because I couldn't find you guys," AJ said.
"Don't use us for an excuse because you screwed up," Nick said.
"I know that I didn't sleep with her," AJ said.
"Are you sure?" Brian asked.
"Yes."
"AJ you're the dumbest son of a bitch ever created. Why is it always women with you?"
"If I can just explain it to Kelly," AJ began.
"I'm telling you right now she won't listen. She said you guys were over and I think she meant it," Nick said.
AJ flopped down on the couch. "It can't be over," he said.
"I don't know what to tell you," Brian said.
It had been two weeks since that episode with AJ and my heart was still in shreds. Everyday I would miss AJ especially when I would look at Xander. AJ would come to visit Xander, but I would always stay in my room while he visited with him. Not once was I around when he came for visits. I knew that he knew I was avoiding him.
"Stop it," Shannah said.
"What?"
"AJ, stop thinking about AJ. You know what let's go out," Shannah suggested.
"Now?" I asked.
"Why not? We can go to that club that Howie was telling us about. The Grind,"
she said.
"I don't know, I have no one to watch Xander."
As if on cue AJ's mother called me on my cell phone. She wanted some quality time with her grandson and would be by to come get him in an hour.
"See it was meant to be, let me call all the girls."
So an hour later we were all dressed and ready to go out. I had put on a silver hooded catsuit with some silver heels. My hair was like Monica's on the Boy is Mine video except the braids were across my head. As I got ready I could hear all of them calling my name from downstairs. I put the finishing touches to my silver eyelids and walked downstairs.
"Come on Kelly," Dominique groaned.
"Girl you look the absolute bomb," Hazel giggled jumping up and down.
"Thanks," I said.
"Yeah and no baby tummy," Jessica said patting my stomach.
We drove to the club and were immediately let in because the bouncer remembered us. We all went immediately to the dance floor. At first I felt uncomfortable dancing without AJ and then I remembered what he had done. Forget him! A fast deep house song was on and I was feeling the rhythm. I walked in front of this one Hispanic man and we started dancing. He got all close to me and we danced. At that same time five men walked in and their names were Brian, AJ, Howie, Kevin and Nick.
