Nick checked his watch and saw that he was supposed to pick Sarah up in a half an hour. He couldn't wait to see her face when he told her what they were going to do. Sarah had decided to stay at Brian, Howie, and Kevin's house with Abby because Abby wanted to spend some time with her best friend. Nick didn't have a problem with it at all. He put on a little cologne and looked at his self in the mirror. Yep, he nodded at his reflection, he was ready. Suddenly he heard a knock on the bedroom door.
"Come in." Nick called out, not turning around to see who it was.
A familiar voice filled the room. "Why Nikolas Carter, you didn't think that I wouldn't hear about you coming home now did you?"
Nick turned around fast and his face lit up. It was his best friend Rachel. They had been best friends since the first grade when Nick accidently spilled his chocolate milk on her at lunch time.
"Rachel!" He walked over quickly and gave her a big hug. "I'm so glad to see you."
"I'm glad to see you too. I missed hanging out with you and talking like old times." She sighed. "But I know you're a busy backstreet boy." She smiled.
"Admit it Rachel." Nick playfully smiled. "You like telling people you're my best friend because you love to make girls jealous."
Rachel laughed. "Oh yeah, you are topic of all my conversations. And surprisingly men like to hear about you too."
"Hey now." Nick warned.
Rachel playfully slapped his chest. "You know I'm just kidding." She noticed that Nick was looking at his watch. "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to pick up Sarah." Nick smiled at the thought of her. "I'm taking her on our official date tonight."
Nick quickly told Rachel the story of how him and Sarah had met. "And I hate to break our reunion short but I have to go get her."
Rachel smiled and gave him a hug. "Have fun and behave yourself."
Nick smiled slyly as he walked out of the door. "Don't I always?"
15 MINUTES LATER.....
Nick took a deep breath and knocked on the front door of Brian's house. Abby answered it.
"Abby," Nick smiled. He gave her a gentle hug. "I'm so glad to see you feeling and looking better."
"Thanks." She stepped out of the doorway. "Come on in."
Nick stood in the living room and waited for Sarah to come from downstairs. He heard Brian talking to Sarah and he went and stood near the bottom of the stairs. When he saw Sarah it was like the minutes were going by in slow motion. He watched as her long brown hair fell loosy around her shoulders. Her yellow summer dress clung to her every curve. Nick swallowed. Sarah's gaze met his and she smiled. Nick's heartrate began to quicken. She reached the bottom of the stairs and smiled up at him.
"Ready?" She asked.
Nick pulled out a dozen white roses and handed them to her. "These are for you. You look beautiful."
She took the flowers from his hands. "Thank you."
"Are you ready to go?" Nick asked as he held his hand out to her.
Sarah took his hand in hers. "Yep I'm ready."
Nick opened Sarah's car door for her and asked, "Did you wear your bathing suit underneath your clothes like I asked you too?"
Sarah sat in the seat and buckled her seat belt. "Yes I did." When he got in the driver's side she asked. "Can you tell me what we're going to do now?"
Nick just smiled. "It's a surprise."
HALF AN HOUR LATER.....
Nick climbed out of the car and opened Sarah's door for her. "Ok, now you have to close your eyes." Nick held both of her hands in his. "Are they closed?"
Sarah laughed softly. "Yes completely closed."
Nick led Sarah to a small spot near the ocean which was roped off and secluded away from the rest of the beach. He stood behind Sarah and whispered into her ear.
"Ok now you can open them."
Sarah slowly opened her eyes and a big smile spread acrossed her face. "Nick they are so cute."
Sarah was looking into the water at 3 dolphins swimming and jumping in the water. They were Sarah's favorite animal. "Look at that one." She pointed excitedly to one of the dolphins that was jumping threw the air. She laughed as he landed back in the water. Sarah turned around to face Nick. "I've never saw dolphins up this close before. They are so adorable. They're my favorite animal."
Nick smiled. "I know that's why I did this. And we get to swim with them."
"You're kidding me?" Sarah asked with so much excitement that she was jumping for joy. "Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of swimming with dolphins."
He wrapped his arms around her waist. "I know. I remembered you telling me that and I wanted to make your dream come true."
Sarah kissed Nick gently on the lips. "Let's swim!"
They got into their bathing suits and jumped into the water. Sarah laughed when one dolphin spit water right into Nick's face. His expression was priceless. Sarah was having so much fun holding on to the dolphin's fins and being pulled around. The one dolphin even gave her a high five. It quickly began to turn dark and the dolphin's trainer came and said that it was time for him to take them back. Sarah and Nick stayed in their bathing suits and went walking on the beach.
"This is just like the first time we were together." Sarah smiled up at Nick's beautiful face that was being bathed in the moonlight. "You are a wonderful man Nick Carter. For everything you did. Especially making my dream come true." She gently kissed his lips. "No one has ever done anything like that for me, ever."
Nick wrapped his strong arms around her and pulled her closer. "I would do anything to see you smile and be happy. That's all I need." Nick took a deep breath. He knew he had to say it. "I love you Sarah."
Sarah looked up into his eyes with happy tears in her's. "I love you too Nick." Nick brought his lips to her's in a searring kiss that left his mind numb. He held her in his arms and swayed her gently back and forth. Nick quietly began to sing "Anywhere for you". Sarah closed her eyes and let her senses be bathed in the wonderful sound of his voice that was singing just to her. She knew then that she wanted to be with Nick forever.
