AJ grabbed his cell phone and dialed Laura's number. She picked up the phone the second ring.
"Hello?"
"Hey girl, what's up?" AJ sat down on his bed and propped up his feet.
"Hi AJ." Laura's voice came from the other line. "I'm just doing some laundry. Sounds fun doesn't it?" She laughed softly.
"Well I got an idea for you if you wanna have some real fun." AJ said in a seductive voice.
"Stop playing AJ. What's going down?" He could tell that Laura was probably rolling her eyes.
"Well, me and the other guys and Sarah and Abby are going to "Amnesia". I was wondering if you want to come so we can kick it on the dance floor and show everyone what we got." AJ explained to her. (Amnesia is a dance club) "You can still dance can't you?"
Laura laughed. "Of course I can still dance. What time are you going to pick me up?'
"I'll be at your house in about an hour." AJ stood up and stood by his window.
"I better go get ready bye." She said in a quick voice and hung up the phone.
ONE HOUR LATER......
AJ pulled his BMW in front of Laura's house and rang the doorbell. She opened the door and AJ's eyes almost popped out of his head. Laura looked amazing. She was wearing a short white mini skirt with a yellow halter top. Her hair was pulled up on top of her head with strands framing her face. It took AJ a minute to realize that she had asked him a question.
"AJ are you alright?" Laura laughed at him.
"All I can say is DAMN girl." AJ smiled at her. "You look really good."
"Thanks." She grabbed his hand and pulled him to his car. "Now let's get going. We haven't been to a club together in a long time."
AJ climbed in the car without taking his eyes off of her.
AT THE CLUB....
When AJ and Laura arrived a slow song was playing. AJ noticed that Nick and Sarah were dancing together and so were Brian and Abby. He looked around for Kevin and Howie. There was Howie dancing with some girl AJ had never saw before and Kevin looked like he was taking a break at a near by booth. Suddenly a fast moving beat blasted through the speakers and AJ pulled Laura out on to the dance floor. They started dancing and doing moves that no one in the club could master.
Abby and Sarah were standing next to Brian and Nick watching AJ and the girl dance.
"Who's that girl with AJ?" Sarah screamed over the music. She gasped with amazement as she watched AJ twirl the girl around and catch her in his arms.
"That's AJ's best friend Laura." Abby screamed back and turned around and pulled Brian on to the dance floor. "Come on B-ROK let's show AJ and Laura that we can rock the dance floor."
Brian quickly put down the water he was drinking. "Your wish is my command."
They went out on to the dance floor next to AJ and Laura and started dancing. They were no match for AJ and Laura. Moves they were doing were considered illegal in five states. After the song went off Abby gave Laura a hug.
"It's good to see you again." Abby said.
"Same here. I heard about the shooting and I'm glad that you are alright now." Laura said as she caught her breath. The music picked up again and AJ grabbed Laura and started dancing yet again.
"Show me those moves I love so much." AJ whispered into her ear.
Laura smiled and began doing her dances.
"I'm going to sit this one out if you don't mind." Brian yelled to Abby.
"It looks like Sarah is taking a break so I'll go grab Nick." Abby said. She walked over to the booth where Kevin, Nick, and Sarah were seated in the quieter half of the club. "Nick do you want to dance?"
Nick slid out of the booth. "Sure."
Brian sat down next to Kevin and acrossed from Sarah.
"Guys, I have to tell someone what I'm planning or I'll explode." Brian pointed to Sarah. "And I need your help."
"What are you planning?" Kevin asked as he took a gulp of his drink.
"Tomorrow night I'm going to ask Abby to marry me." Brian smiled.
"Well it's about time." Kevin told him with a pat on the back.
"But I want it to be the most special moment of our lives and I need help picking out the ring tomorrow in the afternoon. Sarah, would you mind going with me to help pick out the engagement ring and help me shop for groceries because I'm going to cook dinner for her."
"One word of advice." Kevin told him. "Not macaroni and cheese."
Brian made one of his funny faces. "No not that. So will you help me Sarah?"
"Of course I will."
"Nick knows the plan so I'm going to bring him over to the house tomorrow and he's going to keep her at my house for me so she won't want to come with us." Brian explained.
Sarah smiled. "It sounds like a plan."
The music stopped and AJ pulled Laura outside.
Laura smiled up at him. "So do you still think that I can't dance anymore?"
"Ok ok, you were alright." AJ told her.
"Just alright?" Laura turned away from him. "Let's see if I dance with you any time soon."
AJ turned her around. "You know I think that you are the best dancer in there."
"Flattery will get you no where." Laura told him with a small smile.
AJ shrugged. "Who said I was trying to get somewhere?"
"I didn't say you were trying I was just saying." The night air was cold and he noticed that Laura shivered.
"Are you cold?" AJ asked her.
"A little but I'll be alright." She told him.
He walked over to her and put his arms gently around her. "There is that better?"
Laura felt the warmth of his hands on her back. This wasn't something she should be doing with her best friend. So why didn't she want to pull away? If it was up to her she would stay that way forever. But AJ probably doesn't feel the same way about me as I do for him. I've loved him for so many years now and I just can't get up the guts to tell him.
AJ stared down into Laura's eyes. For the first time he realized that he didn't want her just as a friend. She knew him far better than any other person on the planet. She knew his deepest darkest secrets and hopes and dreams. He needed her as more than a best friend. Laura brought her arms up around his neck and he knew what would happen next. He slowly brought his lips to hers gently. Then gently once again. He stopped and looked into her eyes. She pulled his lips down to hers and they met in a long passionate kiss that caused the seconds to go by like hours. They pulled away from each other and stood there for a minute taking in the realization of what they just did.
"AJ what was that?" Laura asked touching her lips.
"I don't know what the hell that was." He pulled her toward him. "But I want to do it again."
Their lips met in yet another kiss.
