Laura climbed out of her car and shut the door. She turned around and leaned against the car, staring up at AJ's bedroom window.
"AJ is my best friend in the whole entire world. What did that kiss last night mean for us? Well I should say kisses." She brought her fingers to her lips remembering AJ's passionate kisses the night before. "But they had to mean something. The feeling was there." She thought to herself. "All these years I've wished for AJ's feelings to change about me and want a different relationship. Has my wish come true?" Laura took a deep breathe and headed for the front door of AJ's house. She rang the doorbell but no one answered. She waited a moment and rang it again...still no answer. Suddenly Laura felt two arms encircle her waist and a single red rose came into veiw before her eyes. She smiled and turned around. AJ smiled back at her. He leaned over and kissed her cheek.
"I was waiting for you to come over." AJ whispered into her ear.
An excited chill raced through her body at the sound of AJ's voice. Laura wrapped her arms around AJ and gave him a hug. He pulled away slightly and kissed her lips softly.
"AJ..." Laura began.
"Yeah?" He moved back and looked at her.
"What does all this mean for us?" She released herself from his arms and walked across the porch, gazing out and up into the clear afternoon sky. "I mean...our friendship is the greatest and about the only thing I have these days. I can't afford to lose that."
AJ walked up behind her and turned her around to face him. "Laura, you're the best thing I have too."
Laura shook her head and looked at the ground. "No I'm not. You have your mom, the guys, the band, millions of screaming girls chasing after you." She looked up at him. "You are all I have AJ. I never knew my father and my mother is gone now." Her voice grew small. "You are all I have."
"Listen to me Laura..." He lifted her chin so that her eyes would be focused with his. "I don't care about the millions of screaming girls chasing after me, and sure the guys and everything else is important to me but without you I would have never gotten this far." He carressed her cheek with the back of his hand. "Believe me when I say that you are the best thing I have in my life."
A tear ran down Laura's cheek and AJ gently wiped it away with his fingers. "Please Laura, say you'll be my best friend...and my girlfriend."
Laura smiled through her happy tears. "Yes AJ, I'll be your girlfriend."
Their lips met in a passionate kiss.
AT BRIAN'S HOUSE....
Nick rang the doorbell with Sarah at his side.
"This is so exciting." Sarah squeeled to Nick. "My best friend is gonna be asked to get married today to the man she loves with all her heart. It's so romantic."
Nick put his finger to his lips. "SSSHH you don't want Abby to hear you."
Sarah smiled and put her hand over her mouth. "Oh yeah..oopps sorry."
Brian answered the door in his tommy hilfiger jeans and black wifebeater. "Good you guys are right on time. Abby's in the kitchen making some kind of salad or something. Nick you know your job. Just keep her busy until Sarah and I get back okay?"
Nick nodded his head. "Ayi Ayi Captian!" He saluted him.
"At ease." Brian laughed. Brian let Nick and Abby into the house and went into the kitchen. "Sarah and I are gonna run down to the grocery store and she needs to run to the mall for something quick."
Abby washed her hands under the sink water and dryed them off. "Well I'll go with you guys."
"NO!!" Sarah, Nick, and Brian yelled in unison.
Abby's eyes went wide and she gave them a funny look. "Um ok."
Sarah laughed nervously. "Well I'm going to get you something for getting better and I don't want you to know what it is until later on."
Abby walked over and put the salad she was making into the frig. "Sarah you don't have to get me anything. Just staying here with me is good enough. I know you could be spending this time sleeping at Nick's house but you stay here with me. That's good enough for me."
Sarah hugged her. "But I want to do this for you so please let me."
Abby hugged her back. "Ok if you want."
Brian and Sarah left and Nick was left in the kitchen with Abby. Abby sat across from Nick and smiled.
"So Nick...."
Nick put his hands up in protest. "Nope you ain't getting it out of me. I don't know what those two are up to. They just told me to come here."
Abby leaned back on the chair. "Come on you have to know something. You are Brian's best friend. Is he planning something for me? Is he the one buying something for me? How come you didn't go with Sarah?"
"Is this a game of 50 questions?" Nick laughed. "Let's just go play some Nintendo."
Abby shrugged. "Okay, but I will get it out of you."
They went into the living room and Nick pushed the power button and Mario Kart racing came on to the screen.
"Nick Carter when you met me you met your match." Abby gave an evil laugh.
"Yeah well we will just see about that Ms. Confident." Nick picked his player.
After Abby bet him three times in a row Nick gave up. "Ok so you are a little bit better than me. It's just an off day."
Abby sat on the floor next to him and leaned against the couch. "Now that I'm the winner you have to tell me what Brian and Sarah are up to."
Nick shook his head and leaned back next to her. "You aren't getting one word out of me Abby. Besides maybe they did go to the mall so Sarah could get you something."
Abby rolled her eyes. "Then she would've took you to the mall not Brian."
Nick looked over at her with a glint of evil in his blue eyes. "If you don't stop asking I'll have to tickle you and you know how much you hate that."
"You wouldn't." Abby stared at him.
Nick started tickling her fast and she was bursting out in laughter.
"Nick...come...on.." Abby laughed hysterically. "Stop!!"
Suddenly they grew silent and Nick realized how close their faces were. He leaned down and brought his lips to hers gently at first but then more agressively.
All of the sudden they heard something drop. They seperated quickly and saw Brian and Sarah standing in the door way. Sarah had dropped the bag of groceries she was carrying. Their faces were full of hurt and pain.
"Um..." was all Nick could say.
