Brian's face contorted with pain and anger at the same time. Abby stood up fast and Brian walked out of the house and slammed the door. Abby ran after him. She ran up behind him and grabbed his arm.
"Brian wait let me explain." Abby pleaded with him.
Brian turned around fast. "I don't want to hear your explanations." He yelled. It was dark out and the light of the street light illuminated the both of them. Brian turned away and start walking again. Once more Abby stopped him by pulling on his arm.
"Brian you have to listen to me please." Her voice became shaky and tears filled her eyes.
Brian yanked his arm out of her grasp and yelled, "Don't you dare cry Abby, don't you dare cry."
She began to tremible and she closed her eyes praying to god that this was all a dream.
"It's not what you think." She managed to whisper.
"It's not what I think?" Brian asked in amazement. "You know what I think? I think I just caught the girl that I love with all my heart and soul, the girl I would give my life for...I think I just caught her," His voice grew louder and more angry. "Kissing my best friend in my own house."
Tears began to run down Abby's cheeks.
"You have no reason to cry!" Brian yelled at her. Tears filled in his eyes. "My heart feels like it's just been ripped out of my chest and stomped on!" He held the engagement ring box in her face. "You know what this is Abby?" He asked quietly.
Abby stared at the red velvet box that Brian held before her eyes. A sob escaped her lips at the realization of what it was.
"I was going to ask you to marry me tonight and be my wife. And share my life with you forever and always." Brian turned around and threw the box with angry force at his car window, shattering it into a thousand pieces on to the pavement.
Abby was sobbing now. "Please Brian that wasn't supposed to happen with me and Nick." Tears were running down her face. "Please Brian believe me when I say I love you with all my heart. Please don't leave me." She begged him.
Brian looked at her with disgust. "You lost me the minute your lips touched Nick's." With that he turned and walked away from her and climbed into his car.
"BRIAN!!!" Abby yelled through her tears and sobs.
He started the car and gunned the engine and peeled down the street.
Abby couldn't control her tears. She cried and sobbed as she fell to her knees in the middle of the rode. "BRIAN!!!"
MEANWHILE....
Nick ran over and stopped Sarah from running out of the house. "Sarah you can't just leave!"
She struggled to get out of his grasp. "Nick, let me go!" She yelled at him with hurt and angry tears in her eyes. "I don't want you to touch me!"
Those words hit Nick full force. A pain started to ache in his chest and his breath caught in his throat. He still didn't let her go. "You aren't leaving without hearing what I have to say."
Tears were streaming down Sarah's flushed cheeks. "I don't want to hear one God damn word you have to say to me!" She struggled for her release.
"But it's not what you are thinking." Nick tried to explain. He couldn't let the best thing in his life walk out.
Sarah stopped struggling and Nick let her go. She stood there staring into his eyes. He stared back into her's which were red and puffy from crying. She shook her head. "You promised me Nick. You promised you wouldn't do anything to hurt me. You promised that I would be the only one for you and this whole damn time you were after Abby. My best friend."
Nick reached for her hands but she moved away from him. He looked down at the floor. "I wasn't after Abby. I don't know what happened. One minute we were playing nintendo and the next..." he left the sentence go unfinished. "I love you Sarah."
Sarah lifted her hand and slammed Nick hard across the face. He was stunned and it took him a minute to recover from the hard slap.
"How dare you even say those words to me," Sarah cried. "After you kissed my best friend."
Nick knew she was slipping from his hands. "Sarah, please, I never wanted that to happen with Abby. You are the only one that I want."
Sarah wiped her tears away angrily. "Well maybe you should have thought of that before you kissed her." She turned around and ran to the front door. Nick ran after her.
"Sarah don't leave! You can't leave now!" Nick yelled to her.
She ran outside and across the front lawn. "I never want to see you again Nick Carter!" And then she was out of his sight.
