Abby took a sip of water from the glass that Howie handed to her. Her eyes were red and swollen from crying. She took a few deep breathes to try to calm herself down. "Brian will come back and we'll talk this over and everything will be alright." She kept repeating over and over in her head. Howie came into the living room and sat down next to her.
"Everything's going to be fine Abby." He comforted her. "Brian's probably on his way back here right now to talk things over."
Abby nodded her head. She heard the front door open and shut. Her heart skipped a beat when Brian walked into the living room. He stared at Abby's swollen eyes and quickly looked away. It hurt him to see her like that, but he was going to have to do what he set his mind on.
"Howie can I talk to Abby alone please?" Brian threw his car keys on to the coffee table.
Howie stood up and patted Abby's shoulder. He walked past Brian and whispered, "Take it easy on her."
But Brian just looked away. When Howie was out of the room Brian walked in front of Abby and stood across the room from her. "We need to talk."
Abby nodded her head in agreement.
"How could you do this to me Abby?" Brian's eyes pleaded with her. "You have no idea how bad the pain shot threw me when I saw you lying in Nick's arms the way you're supposed to be lying in mine."
Abby wasn't going to cry. She stood up and walked a little closer to him. "I am so sorry Brian. Please believe me when I say that it wasn't supposed to happen and Nick means nothing compared to what you mean to me." She reached out for him but he moved away.
"How can I believe you Abby when I've lost all trust for you?" Brian gave her a look of disgust. "How do you expect me to trust you again? Maybe next time it will be Howie, or AJ, or even my own cousin Kevin. Hell why don't you go find my brother." His voice rised and she flinched.
She shook her head. "You know I would never do that."
He laughed. "I thought you would never kiss my best friend and look at where we are now." He lowered his voice. "I want you to leave."
Abby's breath caught in her throat and she took a step back with tears filling her eyes. "What?"
Brian looked straight at her. "I want you to leave and go back home."
"You can't be serious." Tears began running down her face.
Brian nodded his head. "I have never been more serious than I am at this moment." Brian went to walk out of the room.
"But where will I go?" She cried.
"Home."
Abby began sobbing. "But my home is with you, Brian. My life is with you!" She began yelling at him through her sobs. "I live my life for you! You are my life!" She grabbed his shoulder and spun him around. "You can't throw our love away like it means nothing to you." Abby pointed to the ground. "You can't just forget what we mean to each other. We need each other Brian and you know it. You can't end it here."
Brian looked into her eyes. "I just did." He walked out of the room.
"Brian don't walk out on me again." Abby cried.
She heard Brian's voice down the hallway. "Pack your things Abby and go home."
AJ'S HOUSE.....
AJ, Laura, and Kevin were sitting in the living room playing cards. They had been playing all night because they decided they wanted to have a quiet night.
"I fold." AJ threw his cards down on the table.
"Me too." Kevin did the same.
Laura stood up and danced around the table. "Looks like I win yet again boys." She laughed.
AJ nodded his head slowly and scratched his chin. "I think we should play strip poker."
Laura smiled and nodded. "I'll watch you and Kevin play."
Kevin laughed.
"Don't get smart." AJ told her.
There was a knock on the front door.
"I'll get it." Kevin stood up from the table and went to the door. When he opened it what he saw surprised him. Sarah was standing there with tears running down her face.
"I didn't know where else to go." Sarah cried.
Kevin put his arm around her and led her into the kitchen where AJ and Laura were. They noticed Sarah and quickly a look of concern washed over their faces.
"Sarah what happened?" AJ asked.
Sarah quickly told the three about what had happened at Brian's house when they had gotten back from getting the engagement ring.
"He promised me he wouldn't do anything to hurt me." Sarah cried. Kevin put his arms around her and comforted her while she cried.
"How could Nick and Abby do this to you and Brian?" Laura asked.
"He said that he didn't mean for it to happen and he never did and never will like Abby like that." Sarah cried. "But how do I know if he is lying?"
There was another knock on the door. AJ went to answer it. It was Nick.
"AJ is Sarah here?" Nick asked frantically. "I need to talk to her."
AJ put a hand on Nick's chest to hold him back from coming into the house. "Maybe its better if you want until tomorrow to talk to her."
"You always told me there's no time like the present. I need her AJ." Nick pleaded with him. "I have to explain. I just found her, I can't lose her again."
AJ let Nick into the house and he went straight for the kitchen. Sarah tried to stop crying but she didn't do a good job of it. Kevin slowly let her go and slowly everyone exited the room leaving Nick and Sarah in silence.
"Sarah I am so so so sorry." Nick pleaded with her. "Please just hear what I have to say."
Sarah wiped away her tears angrily. "I don't want to hear what you have to say. Nothing you can say will erase the image of you and Abby out of my mind." She stood up.
"I want to make you understand." Nick began.
"I understand everything completely." Sarah told him. "You and Abby were all I had. And now I have lost the both of you."
Nick took her hand in his. "But you don't have to lose us."
Sarah pulled her hand away from his. "I lost you the minute I saw you kissing her. Stay far away from me Nick Carter. You were in my life for a short time...and you have been taken out of it even shorter." She walked out of the backdoor leaving Nick standing there again by himself. He ran to the backdoor.
"Where are you going to go?" He yelled to her.
She yelled back. "I don't know..but I know some place far away from you."
BACK AT BRIAN'S HOUSE....
Abby was in the room that her and Brian shared, packing her bags. Each item she put into the suitcase brought tears to her eyes. This was the end. There was no more Brian and Abby. There would be no future for them. At the realization that she had lost him for good a pain shot threw Abby's stomach and she ran for the bathroom. She fell on to her knees and threw up into the toilet. She sat there for a minute and tried to calm herself down. She had to leave with some dignity if she had any left. Abby didn't want to let Brian know how much he was hurting her. She began packing her things. Her back was turned away from the door. She heard the door shut behind her. Abby turned around and saw Sarah standing there.
"Sarah, I'm so glad to see you." Abby went to move closer.
"Don't come near me." Sarah warned her off.
Abby stopped at the icy tone in Sarah's voice. "Please not you too. I know what you must be thinking about me and Nick but that wasn't supposed to happen. You know I would never do anything like this to you on purpose. You're my best friend."
"Were my best friend." Sarah corrected her. "You have ruined my whole life Abby. You knew what a hard time I had getting over my ex and Nick made me realize what love really is. And then you kissed him."
"I love Brian and you know that." Abby held back her tears. She was sick of crying. "And now I've lost him."
"It's your own fault. You should've kissed Nick. You're lower than low." Sarah looked at her in disgust.
"We made a promise to each other that we would never let a guy come between us. And this is a guy that's totally your's. I never wanted him and never will. I love Brian." Abby repeated for the second time.
Sarah brought her hand up and slapped Abby hard across the face. Abby fell back in shock grabbing her cheek.
"A guy has come between us and this friendship is over." Sarah walked out of the room.
