No one was home but Sarah. Kevin and Howie went over to Nick's house to see how he was doing and she definitely didn't want to be there. So she decided that she would just stay by herself. Maybe she would have time to think about things. Sarah knew that deep down she still loved Nick. But at this point in time she didn't want to hear his explanations. He had promised her that he wouldn't hurt her and he did. Sarah was sick of being hurt and lied to. "I know I should talk to him and listen to what he has to say." She said out loud to herself. "But I can't get the image of him kissing Abby out of my head." Sarah sat down on the couch and pulled a couch pillow close to her. "Doesn't he understand that its not the kiss that is hurting me so bad. It's the fact that he promised he wouldn't hurt me." Sarah took a deep shaky breath and leaned back on the couch and closed her eyes. Suddenly she heard the doorbell ring. She stood up and dropped the pillow back on to the couch. "I wonder who that is." She opened the door and she was faced with a girl she hadn't met before.
"Can I help you?" Sarah asked keeping the door half open and half shut.
The girl smiled politely at her. "I know you don't know who I am but I need to talk to you." She extended her hand. "My name is Rachel."
Sarah shook her hand. "Nice to meet you, I'm Sarah."
"I'm Nick Carter's best friend." Rachel continued. "I'm not here to cause any problems I just need to talk to you for a minute if its not asking much."
Sarah looked down. "Sure come on in." She opened the door and invited Rachel into the kitchen where they sat across the table from each other.
"Would you like something to drink?" Sarah asked as she walked to the refrigerator.
"Sure, I'll have ice tea if you have it." Rachel smiled politely to her.
Sarah took out two glasses and poured ice tea into them and set Rachel's in front of her. "So, what do you need to talk to me about?"
Rachel took a sip of her drink. "Nick...I know you might not want to hear about him right now because he told me what happened."
"Yeah."
"He is in a lot of pain. He misses you a lot." Rachel explained.
"Yeah well I'm in a lot of pain too." Sarah replied back. "And him sending a messanger here just shows how immature he is."
Rachel shook her head in protest. "No no he didn't send me here. I came on my own. I don't like seeing my best friend hurting so much. And I know you probably miss him just as much as he misses you."
Sarah remained silent.
"Please Sarah, just talk to him about it." Rachel pleaded. "I don't know everything about you two or anything but I know for a fact that he loves you. He can't even say you're name without getting tears in his eyes."
Sarah stood up. "Well, thanks for coming but I was just getting ready to go take a nap."
Rachel stood up and walked to the front door with Sarah following behind her. She stepped outside. "Just think about giving him another chance."
"Maybe. Thanks for stopping by." And Sarah shut the door.
MEANWHILE.....
Brian pushed the gas pedal all the way to the floor. He had lost sight of the cab that Abby was in a long time ago. He prayed silently to himself that he would get there in time before the plane took off. He reached the airport and parked his car in a no parking zone and hopped out. Brian ran inside and quickly stopped one of the flight attendants.
"Can you tell me where the flight to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania is boarding?" He asked quickly.
The flight attendant looked at the clipboard she was holding. "That's flight 220 it's boarding now at Gate 18. You might miss it."
"Thank you." Brian ran through the airport looking for Gate 18.
He ran past Gate 22, past Gate 21, he ran faster Gate 20. A group of girls saw him and ran over to him causing Brian to slide to a stop.
"You're Brian Littrell of the backstreet boys." The one girl smiled at him. "Can I please have your autograph?"
"Me too." The other ones piped up.
"Yeah sure." Brian quickly took their pens and wrote his name fast and took back off running. Gate 19...finally he reached Gate 18. He came to a stop at the service desk.
"Where's flight 220?" He asked out of breath.
The man turned around and pointed to the run way. "You just missed it. It's leaving now."
Brian walked over to the window and slammed his fist against it. "Damn it!" Then he got an idea. He went back to the service desk. "When does the next flight to Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania leave?"
The man checked his watch. "There's one leaving in ten minutes from Gate 56 if you want to catch that one. I think you should make it."
Brian pulled out his wallet. "Can I have a ticket?"
SEVERAL HOURS LATER IN WILKES-BARRE, PA......
Abby climbed out of the taxi cab and got out her bags. She paid the driver and he drove off down the street. She looked up at her apartment window and knew the time had come. Abby had arrived home hours before but she went walking around because she knew that when she went into her apartment she would lose it. Everything there would remind her of Brian. Abby could just see all the happy pictures of them that she had framed all around the house. "Maybe I'll go stay with my parents for a few days." Abby thought to herself. Her parents loved Brian and she dreaded telling them how they broke up. Abby took a deep breath. "I might as well go up there now. I'm going to have to face it sometime."
She took the elevator to her floor and turned the key in the lock. She opened the door and dropped her bags in the kitchen area and threw the keys on the table. Abby turned on the living room light and was met with all the pictures of her and a smiling Brian. "I love that smile." She whispered to herself as she picked up a framed photo of just him and ran her fingers gently over it. "I love those eyes." She ran her finger over the glass that covered his eyes in the picture. "I love you Brian." She said out loud in the room.
"I love you too Abby." Came a voice from behind her.
Abby dropped the picture and turned around fast at the voice. There stood Brian in her living room. He had walked out of her bedroom. Tears ran down her face and she ran to him and threw her arms around him. Brian held the back of her head has she cried. Tears filled his eyes.
"Abby I am so sorry for the way I treated you." Brian rocked her back and forth. "I love you so much."
Abby didn't let him go. "No Brian you had a right to be angry with me. I'm the one that's sorry." She cried.
Brian's hands rubbed her back gently. "SSSHHH." He gently swayed her back and forth.
She pulled away slightly with tears still streaming down her face. "Please believe me Brian..nothing will ever happen like that again."
Brian lifted his hands to her face and gently brushed away her tears. He brought is lips to hers and kissed her softly. "I can't live without you Abby." He got down on one knee and held her left hand in his. He reached in his back pocket and pulled out a ring. His eyes looked up into her's. She was shaking slightly. "I've loved you from the first moment we met. I can't imagine living my life without you there to share it with me. I love you with all my heart and I need you in my life." He placed he ring on her finger. "Abby, will you marry me? Will you become Mrs. Brian Thomas Littrell?"
Abby was now crying happy tears. "Yes Brian."
He stood up and hugged her close.
"Yes I'll marry you."
Their lips met in a passionate kiss and Brian reached over and turned out the light.
