The sun shined brightly as Misty woke up. She stretched and yawned with her eyes still closed. *Wait a soft pillow? Blankets? Sheets? Bed? What the hell? Where am I?* she thought. Then the memories of last night filled her mind. She smiled and sighed as she slowly opened her eyes to see AJ's face smiling back at her.
"Ya know I could get used to waking up to this every morning," Misty said with a sigh.
"M'lady has finally awoke from her deep slumber," AJ said with an Old English accent. Misty giggled.
"You're still a goofball, I see," she observed.
"Hey!" AJ replied with a shocked look on his face. She giggled again. He grabbed both her hands as he pulled her up from the bed.
"Where we going?"
"Me and some of my friends are gonna have breakfast downstairs. Care to join us?"
"Of course. Just gimme a couple of minutes to take a shower and change. I look a horrible!"
"Mist, you'll never look horrible," he said smiling at her.
"Thanks Alex. But I'm still taking a shower." Misty grabbed her bag and entered the bathroom while AJ sat on the bed and watched some TV. She took a quick shower and changed into her only clothes that were decent, a baby tank top and baggy khakis. She applied light make up and brushed her hair leaving it down.
AJ whistled once she came out. "Hey baby, you look great and we're only going downstairs for breakfast. I wonder what you're gonna look like if I take you to a fancy restaurant..." he said looking her up and down.
"Oh stop it Alex," she replied blushing slightly. "These were the only clothes I have with me."
"Well then you've come to the right guy. We can go shopping today! You gotta learn, I LOVE to shop!" She laughed.
"I'm sure you do. Let's go eat. I've been starving forever!" She rubbed her tummy and smiled.
"Oh no, you're already starting to act like Nick!" He smacked his forehead.
"Nick...?" Misty asked confused.
"Nevermind. Let's just go downstairs." He grabbed Misty around the waist and led her out of the room towards the elevator. They entered the elevator and went to the ground floor. The walked out and into the pancake house.
"Yo AJ, over here," Nick called and waved to them.
Brian whistled. "Who's the fine lady?" Rok asked curiously. Misty smiled and blushed.
"Everyone, meet Misty. Misty meet everyone," AJ said gesturing towards the group.
Brian held out his hand and said, "Hi, I'm everyone! It's nice to meet you." She giggled.
"It's nice to meet you too," she responded with a grin.
"Naw, I'm just playin'. My name's Brian, but the guys call me B-Rok."
"And I'm Howie, but you could call me D," Howie said holding out his hand.
"Hey Misty! I'm Nick," Nick said jumping out of his chair and holding out his hand.
"And I'm Kevin," Kevin said also rising from his seat and shook her hand. "Have a seat you two, we were just about to order." Then AJ took a seat next to Howie and Misty sat on the other side of AJ next to Brian. Misty knew she had heard those names before but she just couldn't put her finger on it. *Brian... Howie... Nick... Kevin... AJ... uhm... the... Backstreet Boys,* Misty thought to herself.
The guys had already started browsing the menu when she blurted out, "You're the Backstreet Boys!"
"Shhhhh," they all said at once. People around them turned their heads to stare. The guys picked up their menus, trying to cover up their faces while some of them pulled their hats down lower. Misty instantly covered up her mouth.
"Oh... gosh I'm sorry guys. I didn't mean for it to be that loud," Misty said a little quieter while trying to stifle a laugh because they looked too funny trying to keep incognito.
"That's alright. Yea we are the Backstreet Boys. I guess you're a fan then?" AJ asked.
"Yup!" Misty said happily.
"Uhm... you're not going to scream and shout are you?" Nick asked quietly.
"Of course not. I'm more mature than that," Misty said in a snobby like voice.
"Good," he replied, quite relieved. They all laughed.
"Are you all ready to order?" a waitress asked.
"I sure am! I'll have the Triple Stacked Berry Pancake Platter with bacon, eggs, sausages... for dessert I'll have..." Nick babbled on for quite a time while Misty giggled. The other guys were already used to his *big* appetite. They asked Misty many questions about her background while they were waiting for their breakfast. She turned to AJ.
"Uhm, well let's, uh talk about this later," AJ said looking down at the table.
"Yea, uh, later," Misty added in quietly. The tension grew as the other guys exchanged looks.
"Lookie! I can balance a spoon off my nose," Brian suddenly exclaimed. Everyone turned to see Rok with a spoon hanging off his nose while his eyes were cross-eyed. The group burst into laughter. He certainly knew how to lighten the atmosphere. The waitress came with their food and they ate.
Misty watched the guys joke around and talk about their *normal* lives. She savored every little thing on her plate. This was the first time in a very long time since she had a huge meal and was with people she could trust. She truly missed her old life. Misty wanted to return to the days when Alex and her were together. She wanted to relive those first five years and continue on like that day they said goodbye never happened. She wished she had just runaway earlier and then maybe she wouldn't have gone through hell and back. Sometimes life just wasn't fair...
