Advanced Research and Therapeutic Institute ENCEPHALOS/EUROMEDICA
The Institute ENCEPHALOS was founded in 1976 by the late neurosurgeon Zacharias Kapsalakis, a remarkable visionary whose untimely death brought much chagrin to all of us who shared his dream. What started as a small Medical Center, dedicated to brain diagnosis, soon expanded to become Greece's most prestigious Diagnostic Center covering the entire body.
The first CT scanner in Greece (and among the first in Europe, with EMI serial number 12) was installed at ENCEPHALOS in 1977. In 1997 ENCEPHALOS was bought by EUROMEDICA and is part of a large group of Diagnostic Centers and Hospitals.
The Institute ENCEPHALOS comprises of the following Departments:
1. MRI Department (Clinical MRI, MRA, In Vivo MR Spectroscopy). A Magnetom 63/84 SP MR imager with a HELICON 2.0 Tesla magnet (Siemens, Erlangen, Germany) being the heart of the system.
