"THE EVIL STEPMOTHER"

It was still about 10 minutes before the show and Jane was trying desperately to think of something she could say to her husband to make him relax.  She had his hand in hers and he was shaking like a leaf, for that matter so was she.  She just knew this was going to get bad, there was no way around it.  Jane knew that little bitch step daughter of hers was going to ruin her and Bob's happy life!   Jane remembered the morning when she first heard the news on MTV about  Jacki Love had finally been  found living in Kentucky , of all places, and just about 2 hours from where Brian and Kevin were from!  They said a reporter had found some  old records on Bob Carter and Kate Love's, Jacki's mother,  marriage and traced her mother's maiden name back to the Love family in Kentucky.  The reporter went to investigate, he told, and when he  went to the address he had found of Kate Love's last residence  before she had married Bob Carter, whose name do you think he found on the mailbox?  None other than the name Jacki Love!  The reprter told Carson Daley that he knew he  had hit the jackpot, he knew this wasn't just a coincidence!   So he got his camera ready and went up the long driveway to an old log cabin house that had been remodeled.  He said it was really a very pretty place with a lot of trees and flower gardens around it, when Carson had asked what it looked like.  It sat up on a hill in the middle of a lot of farmland acreage he had continued and the nearest house  was about a half mile away and you could hardly see it because there was a little wooded area just before you got to it.  He also said he knew she was home because there was a small blue car in the driveway  next to the house.  He  went on that when he got up to the house he parked his car in back of the blue car and he had just opened his door to get out, camera in hand ready to shoot, when  before he knew what was happening someone had jumped out from no where, grabbed the camera, and shoved him back into the seat of the car!  It was a girl of about 26 years old and she had a very big shotgun in her hands pointed at his head!  He said that he was scared to death and after a lot of begging and pleading for  her not to shoot him, she said she would let him go if he promised not to tell anyone about finding her.  He told her if he had found her others would and she seemed to think about that for a few minutes.  Then she said ok , well then just don't tell them what I look like ok!  So he promised her he wouldn't which is why he said he wasn't going to give Carson or anyone this information.  He said she had invited him for tea and he accepted and they talked for a little bit but not about nothing of her life with  the Carters, except what everybody had already been told by her dad  that she had been kicked out of the family when she was 15 and been living in Kentucky since.  The reporter finished his interview with how nice she was after the gun was put up.  And then he and Carson laughed.   Jane had the phone in her hand to call Bob before she even realized it.  She also had to dial the number 5 times before she got it right for her hands were shaking so bad.  When Bob ansered the phone alll she could get out was , "Bob , they just found out where Jacki is. Oh my God , what are we going to do?  Please get home!" and she hung up without letting him say a word!  Bob was at the house within 15 minutes!

" What did she say?" he yelled as he entered the house, "Oh shit , did the kids hear? Where are the kids?"

Jane answered, "No the kids aren't home yet , luckily, but you know they will hear it, everyone will, oh no Nick is going to go nuts when he hears she has been found !  What are we going to do to keep him and the others away from her ? What are we going to tell them when she tells the truth of what happened that day, and no she didn't tell what really happened yet,  all she told the reported that talked to her was what you have told everyone all these years.  But you know she is going to tell!"

"Yes, I  agree" Bob said looking like he just wanted to find his eldest and strangle her, "But you know how she was, so dramatic, she will probably wait until just the right moment to get us!  Or maybe she is thinking of blackmailing us.  I will just have to try and call her and see what is going on in her evil twisted brain."

But Jacki wouldn't take his calls, Jane remembered,  hell she wouldn't answer nobody's calls.  Even the press couldn't get close to her.  No pictures , no nothing.  And the more Jacki hid , the more curious the fans got about her. The last thing Jane had heard before this charity concert thing had been announced, was that Jacki had been forced to quit her nursing  job  because of some patients rights to privacy they had to go by.   And with Jacki being 'famous' and all now, there was BSB fans and paperazzi always calling where she worked wanting an autograph, or for her to call NIck or AJ or whoever and get them to talk to whoever.....
Jane's children were having a fit to see thier half sister even though they had been told the reason that she had gotten kicked out of the family was because she had beat Jane up during an argument they had been having.  The story went that Bob and Jane had just gone and got Jacki out of Brooksplace, a pshychiatric hospital that dealt mainly with delinquent children, where they had had her placed after they thought she had been the one who  smashed up Janes' car.  But after a month of investigations by one of the police detectives, who actually had listened to all of Jacki's screamings  that she didn't do it and had just lied to protect Nick from getting in trouble (like she always had done) , well he found evidence that prooved it was not Jacki , but Nick, who had driven Janes new car through the fence and into the in-ground swimming pool.  Bob and Jane had taken BJ and Leslie to get some new school clothes the day  the accident had  happened.   They had left Jacki in charge to  watch Nick and the 2 year old twins, Angel and Aaron.  When they pulled into their driveway  about 3 hours later they saw Jane's new car was missing and the fence that had been in front of it was smashed to pieces.  They ran into the back yard to see the car almost totally submerged in the pool!  There was also some blood in the water and Jane remembers at the time all she could think was that Jacki had somehow done this and Nick was probably the one hurt.  They ran frantically into the house only to find Nick sitting on the floor next to the couch crying, and holding a blood soaked towel on the head  of his passed out, very drunk, half sister.  Luckily the bleeding had just about stopped but she had  a  gash on the right side of her head that needed stitches.  Jane remembers Bob calling the ambulance  and the police as she checked on  the twins who  were sleeping in a sleepingbag  on the floor next to where Nick had been sitting.   They had  told the police she had been in  trouble since the day she came to live with them and just had to press charges against her  to not only keep the smaller children safe but have Jacki  put somewhere where she would get the help she needed.  Bob and Jane didn't know at the time that everything in the past that had been broken or messed up had been done by her children and not Jacki , like they had always been told.  And that up until all this happened  Jacki had  loved her little brothers and sisters more than anything in the world and would have done anything to keep them from getting a  beating like she always got.  They didn't know how many times Jacki had taken up for her little brother Nick when all the bullies would try to pick on him or beat him up.  That all the bruises she always seemed to have were from fights protecting him and not from her being clumsy like she had  always told them.  Jane had to wonder , if they  knew then what  they knew now, about just how much Jacki loved and protected their children, if it would have made any difference in how much they had hated Jacki.  No, she didn't think so.   But anyways, when they got home from getting Jacki at Brooksplace, all hell  broke loose, but that actually was not until a few hours later when all the other kids were at school and Bob and Jane had decided to go out to lunch to try and relax and Jacki had been left at home, alone.  But when they had got to their favorite restuarant Bob had gotten such a headache they had to forget the lunch and turned around and went home.  When they walked through the door all they saw was Jacki standing with her back to them, in the  middle of the room, talking to what seemed to be herself. Their early arrival home had surprised Jacki and it was obvious to both adults that she was about to get into something she shouldn't be doing!  And that was all it took to set Bob off!  This was when he just lost control.  Sitting here thinking back on what had happened Jane realized she should have stopped Bob and not tried to stop Jacki  from going up the stairs to get her things so she could just leave.  Why didn't she just let her go and not  run up in front of her and push her backwards  down the stairs.  If she had just let her go none of this would be happening now, if she had just let her go.............
