Skills

There are several skills, which you can improve upon as you progress through Deus Ex. Large portions of the skills are weapons based. While it is a great advantage to upgrade your weapons skills I advise you not to forget about the other skills available, as they prove most valuable in your quest. ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINING This skill allows you to be more effective in the field. Armour, thermopic camo, hazmat suits and rebreathers will all function more efficiently if you boost your environmental training skill. Extremely useful for when you are using armour. MEDICINE When on duty you are more than likely going to take some damage. Improving your medicine skill will allow you to heal more damage with each medkit you find. This skill is extremely useful when coupled with the regeneration augmentation, using both simultaneously will keep you in tiptop condition. COMPUTERS This skill is your ability to hack computer systems. Improving this skill makes you a more adept hacker allowing you to stay connected to systems longer and be able to perform more hacks on different systems. A must for anyone that likes to hack into security systems. ELECTRONICS This skill is your ability to bypass electronic security systems such as cameras and keypads. Improving this skill makes your more efficient at bypassing systems meaning fewer multitools are used and the bypass is faster. A must for anyone who hates hunting for key and would rather hack their way through key coded doors. SWIMMING This skill is your ability to swim. Improving this skill will increase your lung capacity and swimming speed. If you like to search the water for equipment or like to take long swims to get to mission objectives improving this skill is a must. It is advisable to improve this anyway as there are several times when going through water is faster than traversing over land, however some swimming skill is needed. LOCKPICKING This skill is your ability to pick locks. Improving this skill will improve your speed and efficiency at picking a lock. Also as your skill gets better you will be able to use less picks on locks, gaining you access easier and not having to find lockpicks all the time. This skill should be improved regardless as there are times when picking a lock is vital. WEAPONS: LOW TECH This skill is your ability to use melee weapons such as the crowbar, knife and baton. Improving this skill will increase your capability, damage done and speed with melee weapons. Handy if you prefer to use melee weapons than projectile weapons. Improve this skill if you want to kill enemies with a single blow. Clean, quiet and simple. WEAPONS: PISTOL This skill is your ability to use pistol weapons such as the 10mm pistol, the minicrossbow and the stealth pistol. Improving this skill will make your reload speeds quicker, your aim will be better and the weapons range will be increased slightly. Being master in this skill is a huge benefit as the pistol can be your most accurate weapon, and in the hand of a master it can be extremely lethal to even the toughest enemies. WEAPONS: RIFLE This skill is your ability to use rifle weapons such as the sniper rifle, assault rifles and the shotguns. Improving this skill will make your aim better your reload speeds quicker and the range of the weapon will be increased slightly. If you happen to be prone to sniping or using assault rifles to do your dirty work improving this skill is a must. Early in the game it is almost impossible to aim with the sniper rifle with no skill points in the rifle department. WEAPONS: HEAVY This skill is your ability to use the heavy weapons such as the GEP gun, plasma rifle and the flamethrower. Improving this skill will make your aim better, improve reload speeds and increase the weapons range slightly. If you happen to be in love with the heavy weapons then this is the skill to improve. WEAPONS: DEMOLITION This skill is your ability to use demolition weapons such as the LAM and EMP grenades. Improving this skill will improve your accuracy, damage and your ability to disarm proximity grenades. Improving this skill is a must for those who use grenades frequently.
