Augmentations

A feature of Deus Ex allows players to collect and use augmentation canisters. These augmentations allow the player to improve or add to themselves or their weapons, increasing its attributes and abilities. Take every augmentation canister you come across as everyone you get makes it easier to finish the game. Remember that you need to have a Medbot install any canisters you find. COMBAT STRENGTH Combat strength improves melee (Knife, Baton etc.) weapon power. This comes in extremely useful for when you need to kill someone but want to conserve ammo. SPEED ENHANCEMENT Speed enhancement comes in handy for those times when you need to move quicker than a whippet with a bum full of dynamite. This augmentation improves your speed and your jumping ability and also your resistance to falling damage. BALLISTIC PROTECTION Most guards use ballistic weapons, like shotguns and rifles. Turning on ballistic protection provides extra protection against such attacks. Really useful for when you are low on medkits or have bioelectric energy to burn. REGENERATION Keeping your health in peak condition will be difficult in Deus Ex and the regeneration augmentation is here to help you! This augmentation heals wounds and regains health for you at the cost of bioelectricity. AGGRESSIVE DEFENSE SYSTEM The aggressive defense system provides extra defense against high-powered weapons (Including rocket weapons). However this comes at a cost of your bioelectricity, just remember to keep it stocked up or you could run out at an inopportune time. TARGETING Targeting provides extra information about your target's status, including locational damage. It comes in very handy during combat and is a wise choice for those gun-ho players. MICROFIBRAL MUSCLE This augmentation enhances your arm strength, allowing you to pick up larger objects. This is essential for a stealthy player. You will be able to move crates into a better position for which to give you cover. You can also barricade doors and hatches to block enemies, or to keep you hidden from cameras. RUN SILENT This augmentation is self-explanatory. Crawling to keep quiet gets annoying and tedious at times, so installing this augmentation is a dream come true. Being able to run silently is a giant help in getting past wary guards without attracting their attention. RADAR TRANSPARENCY This augmentation should be high on your "Must Have" list if you want to remain undetected from powerful mechs and security cameras. It does use an enormous amount of Bio-Energy and should only be used in emergencies. CLOAK This augmentation keeps you invisible to organic enemies. Extremely useful for a stealthy player when needing to slip by a heavily guarded area without causing a fuss, although mechs are still likely to pick you up on radar. AQUALUNG This augmentation improves your swimming abilities. Longer air supply and speed in the water come in handy. There are also times when a quick dip can get you past heavily guarded sections of the games without a bullet being fired. SPY DRONE This augmentation allows JC to assemble a small controllable drone, which can be used as a scout to explore areas ahead. Can be used to check out hallways or rooms before entering. It uses a lot of Bio-Energy and can even stun mechs and the like once it has been upgraded. VISION ENHANCEMENT This augmentation allows the player to see more effectively and to also see through walls. Having x-ray vision is useful in all situations of Deus Ex and can be priceless at times. ENVIRONMENTAL RESISTANCE During the game you come across some environmental hazards such as toxic waste, electric sparks, etc. This augmentation will protect you from these elements while you have it activated at the cost of you bio-electricity. POWER RECIRCULATOR If you are prone to use computers and hack a lot then this is the augmentation for you. This augmentation allows other systems to run more efficiently, saving you power and getting rid of the need to use bioelectric cells as frequently. EMP SHIELD This augmentation is similar to the power recirculator. The EMP shield can protect your bio-electricity reserves from EMP attacks and EMP fields. This comes in handy when traveling through EMP fields or shunning the effects of an EMP grenade.
