In 1948, the UN wrote the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights that every human on Earth is entitled to. Of course,
since the UN wrote it, they had no way to back it up. So basically
the rights are there but they don’t really apply and everyone pretty much
ignores them. Anyway, the Declaration of Human Rights includes the
right to marry whoever you want. This, to me, seems like a reasonable right
that everyone should have, right? The United States Government tramples
all over this right when it denies gays the right to get married.
The anti-gay marriage law is the essence of everything that is prejudice
in the United States right now. I think you’ll agree that the right
to love is a basic right. It seems logical to me that the Government
should have nothing to do with deciding who you can or can’t love.
Right? When we allow the Government to decide who can or can’t get married,
we invite all sorts of abuse. We open the floodgates of Governmental
control. The next thing, they’ll be telling us who can or can’t have
kids, who can or can’t have a dog, who can or can’t have a job, who can
or can’t eat, who can or can’t breathe, the list goes on. It’s also
plausible that marriage is an exercise of religion, in which case it would
fall under the jurisdiction of the first amendment.
I propose an amendment that would kick the government
out of any decision regarding marriage. This includes interracial,
homosexual, and any sort of marriage. And if somebody wants more than one
wife, that shouldn’t be disallowed either. I feel that if a woman
wants to marry a man who is already married (as in the example of Muslims),
that’s her decision and the government should have no say in whether she
does or not. The same thing applies to abortion.
I’ve heard of an idiot senator who said that
if we gave gays the right to get married, it would be like saying it was
okay to be homosexual. Who votes for these senators? There is something
that everyone needs to figure out, so it might as well be now. There
is no connection between what is ‘right’ and what is legal. Millions
of people have died from smoking cigarettes. I would call smoking
cigarettes a bad thing. Right? It’s not an illogical statement
to say that smoking is bad for you. But guess what? Smoking
is as legal as apple pie.
I know that might have shocked some of you.
You’re thinking ‘How can the government allow something that causes hundreds
of deaths every year?’ Well, the answer is not an easy one.
The truth is that most people in Washington have their hands in the pockets
of big business, so if they outlaw something that pays them, it’s like
shooting themselves in the foot.
Another example? Alcohol. Here’s
a news flash for some of you: Drinking alcohol kills brain cells.
Not to mention the fact that it swells up your liver like a watermelon
on steroids and that can’t be good. But you know what? That’s
legal too. What else? Cholesterol and fat are bad for you but
those are legal. Some would say watching television is bad for your
attention span and mental health but that is legal as well.
I’m not saying that those things should be banned
so don’t get angry if you’re a cigarette-smoking, vodka-drinking, meat-eating,
television-zombie kind of person because, hey, so am I. I can eat
burgers like a freed Iranian hostage and I watch television whenever I’m
not in school. I’m just trying to get the point across that there
are things that are legal that are not ‘right’ and there are things that
are illegal that are not ‘wrong’.
What was I talking about? Oh yeah.
This moron senator thought that if we give them the right to get married,
it would be like saying it was okay to be homosexual. I’ll say this:
If your sexual preferences are based on what the government says is okay,
something is wrong. If this holds true for you, there is hope.
See Chapter X: How to disconnect yourself from governmental brainwashing.
There is also a controversy about gays in the
military, don’t ask me why. I think it’s ridiculous not to let gays
fight. If they want to fight, let them fight, because I’m not fighting.
I think most Americans would agree to that statement.
Most republicans want a bigger military for some
reason, yet they would have anyone gay not be allowed to fight. Here’s
a statistic: 100,000 people have been discharged from the navy for being
gay. This makes no sense to me, so I won’t even try to understand
why. Perhaps it’s like in the book Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.
The book is about a squadron of bombers in World War II and in one of the
scenes there is this mean Captain Black who despises the squadron commander.
So Captain Black starts a loyalty oath campaign. Before any of the
men are allowed to fly their missions or perform other duties, they must
sign a loyalty oath. Soon Captain Black accuses the squadron commander
of being a communist since he hasn’t signed any loyalty oaths. The
medical officer then points out that Captain Black won’t let the commander
sign any of the loyalty oaths. The captain says that would defeat
the whole purpose of the loyalty oath campaign. "Besides, you didn’t
hear him denying he was a Communist until we started accusing him."
Perhaps republicans will start saying that gays
don’t defend their country as straight people do. Of course somebody
smart will say "Because you won’t let them." Then the republicans
will start spouting out ridiculous crap about family values and stuff like
that. That has happened to me more than once. For some reason
republicans think that prejudice and the budget are included in family
values. I’ve never understood that one either. Okay, that’s
enough republican bashing for one book.
Just so you know, I’m not totally anti-republican.
I hate partisanship in the government and think it should have no bearing
on what policies are passed. We should have more anonymous elections
and anonymous Congress votes. You shouldn’t have to stand up and
tell everyone how you vote.
Of course, then Congressmen would lie about how
they vote in session so that people will vote for them, which is a shame.
The bastards.
