1996-present:

Poverty-aid Projects Management and Monitoring System. The project, supported by a grant from Poverty-aid Office of State Council, concerns the horizontal flow of project information among organization and the vertical dissemination within an organization. It is a interactive web GIS to monitor poverty-aid projects implementation and randomly simple those projects according to location of the poverty-aid projects in poor area.

This system is developed using Java1.1, consisting of an applets(client) and an application(server). A request/reply protocol between client and server is defined. A permanent connection between client and server is used to transmit compressed data-stream. The server provides the client with spatial dataset and public directory service on it. The client mainly focuses on the visualization, graphic operation, and query. The cache of the client is used to download the dataset and directory on server and decompress them.

1995-1996

Research on Beijing Urban Traffic Geographic Information System (1994-1996). The project was supported by State Committee of Sciences and Technology. It was a multimedia GIS running on the Arc/Info platform, which was written with ARC Macro Language (AML). The objective of the project was to explore the possibilities of GIS application on traffic management and tried to build the dynamic traffic mangement models such as traffic lights mangement model, traffic route locking model, route optimiztion model, traffic congestion dispersal model, emergency disposal model and route optimization model, real-time vehicle tracking model.

Research on Environmental Monitoring Information System of Jinshangmeng Mining Area (1995-1996). The project was supported by a joint grant from Huaneng Mining Co. and State Committee of Sciences and Technology. The objectives of the project was to monitor the environmental changes in Daliuta mine field in Jinshanmeng Mining Area.
