My Poems31 - 40 |
Death 33 Daylight at Night SF Writers' Club Cosmic Irony Nova Life Insomnia Oblation
By some hidden force
We seek beauty
Can we rise above
What we are
To what it is deemed
We ought to be?
Should we even try?
How can one man save us all
Unless through death
How can one man change the world
Unless through death
How can I expect to live
Unless through death
To bed, to sleep
To dream of clouds of silvery moonlight
A chance meeting
And a love so bright
To be exceeded only by those
Twilight moments between real and fair
When we know we are dreaming
Without a care
To be awake whilst dreaming
Must surely be
So close to heaven
For you and me
The endless staircase spirals down
To where all day all men wear a frown
For nowhere there are large tracts of land
Nor even great big dunes of sand
The chasm within
Tears apart my soul
Rendering onto it a moonless sky
Where the only hope is a glimmer too far
And the only salvation is to face the sun
Freedom comes and freedom goes
Yet what freedom is no-one knows
Freedom for me may not be for you
Freedom for one may not be for two
Freedom cannot eternally last
Soon it will be but a memory past
Yet we hope it will come again
And this hope is all that keeps us sane
Yet again sleep deceives me
And I am abandoned on my quest to dream
To ponder this is all I can do
Whilst waiting, hoping for sleep
The mornings now are bright and gay
But trapped am I in this twilight world
Where hope is my only ally
And the demons take my dreams away
"It's, it's, it's a cry for survival
... for our survival, and for your survival"
Survival for everyone
May need to sacrifice a few
But survival for a few
Will always lead to annihilation of everyone
Dictators continually rise and fall
And none realize the futility of their bigotry
We can only live our own lives
And deal with our own problems
A chosen few may embark on world changing paths
But for most personal survival is the prime instinct
Helping others whenever possible
But forever looking after number one
