They have their father, Karikara the second, in common, but were born to different mothers, Gadevy's being noble. He thought that his accession to the throne could be profitable to him. But, due to his imprudence and his outward claim to the throne, he lost the support of his powerful family. When Karikara died and chose a duel before the Gods to show his successor, Gadevy decided to take a gamble and asked Bahadoru, a monstrous beast-like man, to fight on his behalf. He thus shamefully refused to fight himself, entrusting the country in the hands of this half-beast fighter. Finally, Rajendra's representant, Darun of Pars Kingdom, a foreigner, stepped onto the ritualistic battleground. Rajendra had also refused to fight for himself, bringing shame to his name as well. And he won. Faced with losing the throne, Gadevy screamed at his representant in anger, this treatment enraging the beast which, pushed into an insane bloodlust, attacked and killed its master.
