| Assignment 3 |
Synopsis This was our precedent study to our library. Gary W and I chose Newton's Library in Surrey, BC. We had no idea what it was, but we chose it because it was the most recent one built on the list. Assignment Analysis This is a very post-modern building and I liked it upon my first glimpse. My favorite attributes include the series of columns down the center, the roof shape where I later found out it was designed to look like an open book, and the walls that aren't 90 degrees to the ground. The drastic change between the sections cut through the building was astounding, and yet, the plan of the interior was almost completely rectilinear. Also, one of the most interesting features is the giant alluminum mechanical space on the roof to guide people to the entrance. Our Presentation We were really rushed since we were the last group to go, being the group with the most modern library. We just went through the website on a projector and we switched off explaining each category. Our explanations could only include brief highlights however, and we were cut off before we were able to explain the last category. |
