Remember the nights we sat on the beach
High up in the lifeguard's stand?
We would watch the sun set in the sky
Beyond emerald water and white sand.
Your arm around me holding me close
Warming my heart and my soul.
Countless hours we could spend like this
Until the rolling tides took their toll.
A breeze would blow gently in the night.
I could feel the love that we shared.
No words needed to be spoken then;
It was enough just knowing you cared.
Memories are all I have now.
No soft touch, no setting sun.
Just my memories to keep me warm
and put me to sleep when day is done.
Sometimes I am afraid and panic!
Did I store memories to last me there?
Have I forgotten some small detail
Or forgotten the taste of the ocean air.
Do I remember the feel of your lips on mine
Or the gentle touch of your finger
when you would caress my face....
And let your hand there linger...
I relive each moment over again in my mind;
I must not forget one moments pleasure.
For these I will keep in my heart forever
Cause they are worth a king's treasure.
No I must not forget one single thing
Memories in my heart I shall keep
Cause I know that our love is real
I still feel it within me so deep.
Memories are all I have now
And I cherish and delight in each one;
Wondering when I will be able to relive them.
Oh that would be such fun.
