MY PERSONAL POETRY

THE QUEEN'S LAND

When the kingdom was stolen
And much land taken away
Our Queen set aside her estate
That her people would be cared for

Her lands were to gain revenue
To be used to promote the future
For her people yet to come
Planned by a ruler of great love

But today her estate is in jeapordy
As there are those who want the land
To suit their own wants and needs
Against the laws of eminent domain

And now the laws are being changed
By the powerful whose will is fulfilled
To give them what they alone wish
That does not meet the letter of the law

Atlantic City faced the very same law
That would take a woman's home away
So a Casino could be expanded
But the judge would not participate

So why do the courts keep taking the land
That belonged to our Queen deposed
That was to help her people with the funds
So private citizens can profit for themselves

Hawaiian lands are sacred to our people
But no longer do they belong to us
And what our Queen meant to save
Is to be lost to those who care not

Her people's cries go unheard
By those who take whatever they want
And soon you'll see there will be no more
Of the Queen's estate she left for us
