AcknowledgementsI would like to thank Ratha Moniratha (check his kewl website) for sending me the orginal copy of Khmer Read and Writing book from Cambodia.
This is a rare book since it has the traditional approach to teaching Khmer for over many years. Older adults even said they remembered that book when they were learning how to read and write Khmer in Cambodia
.
Introduction:Hi, and welcome to my tutorial. I'll try to make this tutorial fun and easy to understand. I'll introduce you to some of my very own techniques and concepts in learning how to read and write Khmer. I'll also introduce you to traditional Khmer teaching as it is done back in the Republic of Kampuchea. For example, from what I've learned from the Monks at the temple(e.g., wat) and my parent. I'll also include western concepts in their approach to learning Khmer.
Overview and My Approach: I'll start off by introducing you to Khmer writing system Next, I'll teach you how to say all of the consonant. ........ then the vowels. Finally, with the phonics you have learned, I'll teach you to READ KHMER! |
