This is the first full-time job after graduating from college. My official title is an Applications Analyst. People often ask me what I do or what my company does, and it is often very difficult to explain. My company basically has one major product with many sub-products. The Sierra System is a trading and global risk management system which we sell to commercial banks, who use our system to calculate their daily positions. With our risk management system, the clients are able to hedge their positions with other instruments. As an application analyst, I have two major roles, one is support, and the other is consulting. In terms of support, I basically report and test bugs that occur from our periodic upgrades of the system. And in terms of consulting, whenever a client wishes an enhancement done to our system, I help write up a specification detailing the enhancement, focusing on what the client desires as well as what our system is capable.
