Assembly:

Now, I finally found a way to apply the mesh to the opening in the tail boom. I decided to do it one half at a time, and scribbled some pencil lead onto the edges of the opening. Then I pressed some paper against it, making a little template of the shape of the opening. Then I cut out that template, and used it to cut the mesh. Did it all again for the other side, and got this:

And here are a couple shots of the closed fuselage halves with the cockpit proper done. I still have to add the seats in the rear cabin, and some extra wiring and seatbelts.

I also started work on the flare dispensers. At first I tried making them out of really thin styrene sheets cut to the right shapes. It proved very tedious to do, and looked awful in the end. So I ripped them off and decided to carve them from a block of resin. This took most of the afternoon. Here's a shot of one roughly completed. I might redo the holes for the flares. You can also see where I ripped the old dispensers off the white mounting plate.

That's all I've done for now. I'm finding less and less time to work on it these days. I've begun work as well on the rotor head and blades, a ground crew figure, and practiced the paint scheme on an old model (a Spitfire of all things). Pics to follow next update.
