The Soldiers Mock Jesus - (Extracted from the Bible)
The soldiers stripped Jesus and put a scarlet robe on him. Then they twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt before him and mocked him, "Hail, King of Jews!" They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. Then they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him, and led him away to crucify.
The Crucifixion
As they led him away, they seized a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and forced him to carry the cross. A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. Jesus turned and said to them, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. For the time will come when you will say, 'Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed.!' Then "'they will say to the mountains, "Fall on us!" and to the hills, "Cover us!"' For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?"
Two criminals were also led out with him to be executed. When they came to a place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals - one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." They divided up his clothes by casting lots.
The people watched, and rulers sneered, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One." The soldiers also mocked him, "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself."
There was a written notice above him, which read: THIS IS THE KING OF JEWS. One of the criminals hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"
But the other criminal rebuked him, "Don't you fear God," he said, "We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
The Death of Jesus
From the sixth hour until the nineth hour darkness came over the land. Then Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." And he gave out his spirit.
At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn into two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs and appeared to many people.
When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!"
I believe that Jesus Christ is God's own son who became a man
so that he could die for our sins.
