PROGRAMMING

I am currently a beginning programmer in Object Pascal programming using Delphi 4. As versions complete beta testing, they will be available for review here. FortuneCity does not allow files larger than 1 MB, so these will be small sample programs of my progress.

I wrote my first program with my little sister in mind, and it's called Holly Program.

It's features include:

  • multiple forms

  • functional controls
  • menus
  • a status bar
  • custom icon
  • popup hints
  • Win95 CNT style help

32-bit Win95/98 program, zipped to approximately 250k in size, including the run-time DLLs compiled inside of the EXE. Download version 1.0 here if you want to check it out.

If you are sure you have Borland runtime libraries for Delphi 4 programs on your system, download the program without the libraries here.

If you want to see if you have Borland libaries on your system, type, you can check with this very easy to use check it out feature.

Program files over 1 MB will be listed with screen shots and descriptions as they are released, and available by request via email.

As time allows, I am also studying SQL and WinHelp RTF to raise my skill sets to a higher level in database query creation and manipulation as well as for programming uses.

Little Math Program - Screen shot

Little Math Program is my second program.

Version 1.0 is now out of beta and into dual release. The regular release is approximately 204k zipped, download it here. If you have the BPL files, you can get the 20k BPL release here.

This program features:

  • Toolbar program controls

  • Division by 0 checking
  • Operational hints on status bar
  • Win95/98 CNT Style help file

Engineering Visions

  • I am weighing the benefits of packaging my programs into installable executables via InstallSheild. The decision involves a fine balancing act between ease of installation and registry/system interaction, which I think is sometimes a tad over done. Be watching for the latest developments with installable executables, as I'll clearly mark them in a trial here if I decide to go that way.

  • music garden player:

Here's an early peek at an upcoming MIDI player that's on my drawing table. One thing about listening to MIDIs that I don't like is the time it takes my MIDI players to load. This is because they load drivers for just about every other kind of media out there at startup. This player will load fast and play MIDIs and that's all it will do. Nice quick MIDIs.

Version 1.0 has system tray minimize and status bar displaying song now. Version 1.5 will have continuous play functionality and Version 2.0 has a planned play list. Version 1.0 is now available in "Regular" and *"Borland Buddies" release, along with help file.

*Note: To qualify as a "Borland Buddy" you must have the required *.bpl files on your system already.

Magic Rock Software

I am thrilled to join the Magic Rock Software development team as a programmer. I have been involved with Magic Rock for a few months in the web design studio, and this step into the engineering department is indeed one I take with great pride. Visit the Magic Rock program studio on the web any time you want to check out the latest hits on the Delphi Object Pascal scene.
