The television set was turned on in a room. The newscaster was urgently saying something about a breaking news story.
"This is just in, folks. The period of ten seconds of total blackness we have encountered could not be explained by the scientists around the world. Here in the United States, the president is expected to address the nation on the appearance of the apparant 'aliens' that have appeared here, called the 'Malias.' This is a rare encounter. We will keep you updated, live, as it happens. Now on to weather..."
The volume was turned down. Michiru looked at the letter she had received in the mail. It read:
Where is the meadow?
"Don't worry! We will help you save Usagi!" the three starlights chorused.
"But we still don't know what is this 'meadow' she mentioned."
Haruka looked at her letter as well. She crumpled it and threw it into the trash can.
"We have a duty to the princess. We have to go."
Michiru agreed. The two headed to the airport for a flight to Tokyo.
At the site of a grassy meadow, a woman sat very still. In front of her was a clear glass orb. There were many of these peculiar things all over the place. In each was a sence from a certain city. A city from every country in the world. If the senshi lost the battle with her, the entire planet would be destroyed. If she lost ... she wasn't going to lose.
"The battle is approaching. I shall open the gateway for all senshi to enter. I will fight them all. No senshi will defeat me."
"You're wrong! They'll definately defeat you!" Usagi shouted at her.
She was imprisoned inside a box. The framework was shown to be wood covered with thin rice paper for screens. This delicate prison was enchanted with a spell, giving it the strength that it lacked from its structural design.
"Your optimisom is pathetic."
One of the Malias entered the meadow and spoke, "The gateway has been opened."
