    The same survey indicates that of the household population 10 years old and over, 99.16% are literate and only 0.84% are illiterate.



    Educational Programs


    Free Education

    This is the first of its kind in the Philippines designed to test at random food stuffs sold within the city to make sure that they are clean, safe and fit for human consumption.


    Street-Side Reform Schools (Eskwelahan ng Drayber sa Marikina)

    This Program, the first of its kind, aims to foster discipline among motorists. Violators will be lectured on traffic rules and regulations for a minimum of thirty (30) minutes and a maximum of one (1) hour. Depending upon the gravity of the violation, an offender may also be required to render community service from one (1) to three (3) hours after completion of the lecture. Refusal to submit to the procedure and penalties will mean a month in prison.
