No greater love hath a man than this
    to lay down his life for a friend.
And I lay mine aside for you, my dear
    my eternal love to the end.

To lay down your life for the one you love
    would be such a simple deed.
Yet sometimes it's harder to live a life
    and give them what they need.

When love swells, in my heart so full
    I would give it all to you.
But I pain for your wounds as well, my love
    so for you I shall hold true.

My heart doth pain me deeply still
    but I must not think of myself.
'Tis you who needs the greater love
    so mine I place on the shelf.

Always know that the love I have for you
    is truly the best of kind
And I lay it aside, though it cries in despair
    your fullfillness some day to find.



I love you my friend
and I cry one more time
as I think of all I've lost.

But never doubt
to have been your love
is worth all that it's cost
