Meet
The Staff
This
is the staff of Immanuel Baptist Church and a brief Bio on who they are.
Pastor, Mike
Mashburn
Mike Mashburn, Affectionately called Pastor Mike by the
family at Immanuel, is the founding pastor. "I saw the need for
a new contemporary style church in our area." says Pastor Mike.
"Not a contemporary style church for the sake of starting a new
church, but in looking at who lives in Allen County, particularly the
West side, our style of worship is very important to those without a church
family."
In 1994 while serving on the staff of a church in the area, Mike began
sensing a call from God to begin a new congregation. "As I was out
talking to folks who had no desire to be in church, I started hearing
complaints of churches not being relevant or meeting their needs. The
word "boring" came up alot too." says Pastor Mike. "God
began putting on my heart at that point to design a church that would
meet the needs of those that either have never been in church, or haven't
been in years."
So far Immanuel is right on target.
Pastor Mike and His wife Connie have been married since 1990. Connie is
the director of Immanuel's MATs, which stands for Ministry Action Teams.
They have two children, Jonathan age 7, and Hannah age 4.
Assistant
Pastor, Bob Chapman
Bob Chapman is Immanuel's Assistant Pastor in charge of
Christain Education. Bob is also an employee at the General Motors Truck
plant in Fort Wayne. In addition to all that Bob does, he is the chaplain
for the UAW local 2209. "The position as chaplain at the plant and
my role as Assistant Pastor at Immanuel work well together" says
Pastor Bob.
Twice a year Pastor Bob leads a 13 week study to help people understand
how God speaks, and discover His plan for their lives. It is called Experiencing
God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God, written by Henry Blackaby and
Claude King. Pastor Bob's wife's name is Shanna. They have two daughters
Amanda and Jessica.
Worship
Leader, Eric Dunaway
"I love leading worship. It's a call on my life"
says Eric Dunaway, Immanuel's worship leader. Eric has been leading worship
since Immanuel met in a home. He has been a real asset to the young congregation.
"Eric brings a great enthusiasm and contemporary flair that we need to
reach our community" says pastor Mike. Enthusiasm is a great way
to describe not only Eric but the worship at Immanuel. From upbeat praise
songs to slower tempo "Love Songs for God" The worship at Immanuel is
best described as genuine. That is an overflow of Eric's personal relationship
with God. Eric is a student at Taylor Univerity, Fort Wayne. His wife's
name is Amanda. They have been married since August 7, 1999.
