THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: A LINK TO THE PAST
RELEASED ON - SUPER NES (NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM), 1992

BACKROUND INFO
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past had two good things going for it, one, it was on the Super NES, which meant it would be both bigger and better looking than any other Zelda game befor it, and two, it brought the Zelda series back to its roots. Instead of being a 2-D sidescroller RPG type game, like Zelda 2 before it was, it was going to be a top down action RPG view, more like the original Legend of Zelda was. Not only was A Link to the Past tremendous in size anddd scope compared to the other two Zeldas, but the gameplay was fantastic. Not suprising in the least, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was the highest rated Super NES game of all time and is still loved by millions of Zelda fans.

STORY
As you may have inferred from the title of the game, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past actually takes place before The Legend of Zelda and Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link. The time frame is about 100 years before Zelda 1. Asleep in his home one night during a fierce thunderstorm, Link hears the voice of Princess Zelda in his dreams, begging for him to come rescue her from a cell in the depths of Hyrule Castle. He wakes up to find his uncle gearing up for battle. Before he leaves, his uncle commands him to stay home and wait for his return. After waiting about ten seconds (so he's a little impatient), Link heads out to the castle in search of his uncle and Princess Zelda. After rescuing her (and finding his uncle slain), he learns about a evil wizard named Agahnim, who, in seeking to unlock the secrets of the Golden Land, has kidnapped seven maidens who are descendants of the wise men who sealed off the Golden Land.

THE OUTCOME
After traveling through both the Light (normal) and Dark worlds of Hyrule, Link finds out that the evil Ganondorf (Ganon) was behind everything, and heads to face him within the Great Pyramid in the Dark World. He defeats him, winning back the Triforce and ultimately restroing the Dark World to it's once glorious state.

THE JAPANESE VERSION

-RELEASE DATE- November 21, 1991
-ORIGINAL TITLE- Super Famicon Zelda No Densetsu: Kamigami No Triforce (Super Famicon The Legend of Zelda: Triforce of the Gods)
-ABOUT THE JAPANESE VERSION- The Super Famicon version of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is actually exactly the same as the U.S. one, only with Japanese text (Duh!). And heres a interesting fact, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was released on November 21, 1991, exactly seven years to the date, that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released in Japan, which was November 21, 1998. Coincidence. . . probably not.
