THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: LINK'S AWAKENING DX (DELUXE)
RELEASED ON - GAME BOY COLOR, 1999 (I think, might be '98)
First off, as you might have guessed, if your playing it on Game Boy Color, it'll be in full, lucious, vibrant, beautiful color. (You can play it on the Game Boy or Game Boy Pocket too, but it won't be in color of course). The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, also has two new weapons. The weapons, or rather, armor, are a blue tunic and a red tunic (similar to Ocarina of time) but unlike Ocarina of Time, these tunics cut down the amount of damage Link takes (similar to Link to the Past). There is also a new color dungeon, that is made up of mostly color based puzzles. (Make sure that you try to play it on Game Boy Color, because color based puzzles will be pretty hard to figure out if your playing it in black and white!). Although the dungeon is pretty short and easy, it's still cool. Another new addition are these pictures that you can collect at certain locations throughout the game (there are 12 of them). If you have a Game Boy Printer you can print them out at new Camera Shops. There aren't much differences besides what I've already mentioned. Some other little things are different too. Most noteable, is probably the new Heart Container Grid (Like in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) that fills in as you collect Heart Pieces throughout the game that you can access on the Item/Equipment screen. Overall, the Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, while not a entirely new different Zelda game than the original Link's Awakening, is a excellent game, and if you have to chose between DX and the original, definately pick Deluxe, because the little additions are definately worth checking out. |
