Baby Sling Carriers
Check out our new tie dye and low water immersion dyed slings! They are beautiful! They are all hand dyed by me in our home with professional grade Procion Dyes and fixatives. Your colors won't wash out or fade away like tie dye done with home dyeing products. Check out our fabric selection to see current hand dyed fabrics ready to be sewn up for ya!
Or, if you prefer padded slings, I have a friend who sews them here locally, I can hook you up with a padded hand dyed sling for $40! Or a regular fabric pocket slings for only $35. The wonderful uniquely designed pocket sling turns a sling with an elasticized pocket for your checkbook/other stuff into a pillow for your toddler! What an awesome innovation! Check out her web page for the ORIGINAL "pocket full o' sling!" ;) http://webpages.charter.net/cherrydoody/slingsbyjenn/
Baby slings have been used in one form or another all throughout history and are still being used today! Slings are wonderful for carrying your baby around to do the shopping, hiking, cleaning and even around your favorite festivals!! And remember, they are great cover ups for nursing, warm during the winter months, and great for shading a sleeping baby from the sun.
We make our slings unpadded so that they will take you from Newborn to Toddler with ease! In the second picture, our very own 11 pound 2 month old Anna is nursing comfortably hands free (use common sense here Mamas, don't take your hands off your baby while bending over or down and make sure she is secure at any other time), picture 1 holds 18 1/2 pound Daniel just looking at his Mama and picture #3 shows at a year old nursing and the last picture holds Isaac, who was about a year and a half. As you can see, they are both very comfortable and nursing is a breeze!
Please let us know you size Petite (Slender and under 5'4"), M-XL("average" through plump-like me:) or Plus (over 220 or 6 feet) Plus is also a good size if you like to have an EXTRA long tail for coverage or if you have a very large young baby.
You can see how these slings fit a woman my size in the pictures below. Picture one is a petite, 2 is a M/XL, 3 is a Plus. This might help ya out to see which size to order.

My sweet friend Steph made some lovely drawings for a brochure which I will include with your sling, but if you would rather have an online picture, please take a look at Kangaroo Corner for drawings, or Taylor Made Treasures for actual photographs. They both also have lovely slings and other items, too!
Would you like to make your own sling? Here are some general instructions:)
Get 2 - 2 1/4 yards for petite/slender under 5'2"
2 2/3 for "average" to round and tall and Mama Selena sized
3 yards for larger plus sized women (over 250 or 6 foot tall)
Hem the top, bottom and side edges and find some heavy duty steel rings (internal diameter at least 2 inches, 2 1/2 would be better, if you can find them, mine are 2) at the hardware or horse tack shop(or online from any number of places, (try here: http://www.nestmom.com/slingrings.html) DO NOT use macramé rings, this sling will hold your baby for a couple of years and you want to make sure you have the best that's out there, really, they are not that expensive and you NEED something sturdy.
Fold the top edge into the middle until it is about 4 inches wide, sling the rings through and sew that puppy down REALLY well. Sew something like a big "X" mark and sew over it a few times.
Voila-you're done! Or there are many places on the web and through the internet you can get great slings-just don't buy a sling at a department store-you probably will hate it-I did, I bought 3 before I decided to make one:)
HINT!
If you would like to make your own patchy one, make sure to LINE IT with a solid fabric (muslin works great and is cheap!) so that the seams are not supporting your baby's weight-you need a solid foundation to support your child :) Also, larger diameter rings might adjust more smoothly, try http://www.elizabethlee.com for larger rings. (More expensive than nest mom's site but they have nylon rings up to 2 3/4 inner and also metal up to 2 1/2 inner diameter and fun colors, too! She also has a pattern for a padded sling if you would like to try that out.
