Here are a few things I have done recently...
10/20/02
I DID IT!! (Insert Dora the Explorer theme music here...) YAE! Whoo hooo! Took 2 weeks between sick me, sick kids, hubby hurt at work and the frustration of not understanding the instructions but I love it!! I hope Sabrina and Corinne do, too!! Has a couple little flaws but we aren't talking about those:) Good for my first adjusted pattern, resized and reversible and hand dyed:) I am so proud, and relieved, that it is DONE!
OK, it is based on a t-shirt pattern from Kwik Sew for Toddlers. I eliminated the cuffs and neck band and used the 2T size everywhere but elongated the bottom hem and arms to account for the reversible hem. I used a hemp/cotton blend and hand dyed one side in a low water immersion technique using Procion fiber reactive dyes. I was looking for an orange/green blend but ended up with a beautiful pink/rust/grey blend that is just fabulous. I didn't top stitch as the colors were too different... Either thread color would have contrasted way to much. SO, my next one, I think, will be for Daniel, reversible blue and green, I think... Or maybe just a single side with a hood:) I LOVE my Kwik Sew for Toddlers book! Can't wait to get the baby book for Anna! Thank you Esther!
September 28, 2002
Look what I made for Anna! I remade the pants from a pair I originally sewed up for Daniel, just added elastic to the ankles to make them bloomers then made a swing tank top out of some leftover fabric from a jumper I made for me a couple of years ago! Way to go thrifty mama! (And what an awesome picture, too!)
Cotton baby blankies, the rainbow stripe was a raffle item for La Leche League:)
Plus Size Mommy shirt 26W/28W just my size muted purples & blues
Daniel's friend Paige in her pretty halter dress! I did this for a friend-she made the dress, I did the dye:) On natural muslin! Jenn (Paige's Mama) and I will be collaborating soon to offer more children's clothing and padded slings!
Here is a shirt I made for my husband:) My first successful swirl... my ONLY successful swirl, lol! And another shirt, would have been awesome if it had less white.. oh well. Jammies:)
2 lap shouldered Ts and one toddler crew neck
Here are a bunch of onesies. If you like blue and purple, some the blue & purple ones are up for trade.
ok, sue me, I had to do my nursing bra... do you have any idea how boring it is to wear a white bra for 2 years? lol!
(Thanks so much to Barb from http://dragonflytiedye.com/ for the book and pointers! It's Rainbow Tie Dye, for those of you wondering, just use their directions plus a little more dye for best results!)
