Anyhow, turn out he was in San Jose working but they didn't have the part he needed so he decides to drive 5 1/2 hours to see his mom and 5 hours to see me for an hour, lol!  My Dad is a workaholic and a drive a holic, lol!  Anyhow, it was great to see him , I miss him a lot.</div> <div> Here is a picture he took of Jeff, the kids and I</div> <div> <IMG SRC="3a0c8aa0.jpg" border=0 width="200" height="170" ALIGN="BOTTOM" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0"></div> <div> <B>August 3, 2002</B></div> <div> Anna is famous!  Had a Mother's and Infant's faire at the mall yesterday and the local LLL and Breastfeeding Support Center (home of the Redding Breastfeeding Coalition) were there.  Our playgroup did a Nurse Out (see <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#3300CC" FACE="Arial" ><A HREF="http://www.promom.org/" TARGET="_top" TITLE="http://www.promom.org"><U>promom.org</U></A></FONT> for info) and they took film of our moms nursing babies & toddlers!!  I was too late for that but later on another TV crew was there and they took pictures of Anna:) she was so cute:)  I stayed up to watch the news at 11 (after a 3 hour nap, lol!) and she was soo beautiful! :)  Very very short pieces, though and I didn't like what the lady said on the second piece...she just rubbed me the wrong way.  But, oh well!  Beautiful breastfeeding kids on TV!!! Finally dilated to 4 centimeters at around 8 PM... Contractions pretty rough at this time...  Comfort measures not really an option as I am strapped to a (*&^%!) IV pole and bed... ick... Got Epidural at 10:30 PM.... oh heaven... it was nice...  Didn't plan on it but pitocin and me don't like each other.  Dozed on and off for a couple hours until about 1 am Wed , checked and STILL 4 centimeters... Called midwife... they are talking c section....  Epidural STOPPED WORKING....  OK, timeline next few things is only 8 minutes... I am still dilated to 4 centimeters... they call midwife.  I get more and more in pain, start to get hysterical (not my highest moment, lol) they check me again after a few minutes... 8 centimeters!!  I have to push!  Nurse says no, not ready!  I have to push!  She sticks her hand in me to "see how contractions are effecting" me... OUCH!!  Get it OUT!! (at this point the nurses look at each other with panicked expressions and say "she's just a rim" and Jeff says "you've done this before, right?  Just deliver the baby!")  She tells me to go ahead and push, Nurses catch baby after 3 pushes at 1:27 AM  Wed May 29th..  Midwife walks in 5 minutes later, lol :)</div> <bR> <div> EEEK!  4 centimeters to baby being born in 8 minutes-OW!  But she is beautiful and soooooooo worth every minute:)  And the 2 other days it took, lol!!</div> <bR> <div> <B>UPDATE</B></div> <div> So, Midwife didn't get there.... found out at my one week check up that she was very upset that they hospital didn't call her when I got the Epidural.. she had left express instructions that they call her.  Also, 2 of my friends were allowed to use the birthing tub before they were dilating well to see if it would help (and it DID) this was not made available to me... which upsets me now but what can you do?  I wonder if this was the nurses doing by not keeping my midwife updated or if this is because my water had broken... they were giving me IV antibiotics so I assume it wasn't the latter... The nurse that helped delver my baby was the silliest thing I had ever met... she introduced herself with " I am sorry about my hair, I didn't have time to blow dry it today, you'll just have to live with that"  UGH!  And I switched to this hospital to get a more natural birth, lol and I get a nurse worried about her hairspray... </div> <bR> <div> Turns out my whole experience was pretty much  repeat of what happened with my son... with him, my water broke at 9 PM Friday, no contraction, pitocin following day at 1:30 PM, Epidural at 10:30 PM and I slept 3 hours and delivered at 2:18 PM Sunday after 3 pushes... only that time, the Epidural worked and I felt no pain...who knows?  I often wonder if I had just been able to let my body do is thing if the baby would have just done all its work in those last 8 minutes on her own.... I guess I will never know...</div> <bR> <div> But  Anna is beautiful and Daniel is doing well with the adjustment and since I only had a "skid mark" tear the Midwife is just letting me heal without stitches and besides the obvious child in my arms-I don't feel like I just had a baby at all!  I am all nice and comfy and no pain!  Its great!</div> <bR> <div> <B>May 26th</B></div> <div> Baby Shower today, holey cow... loot!  I can't believe I got so many awesome things.. including a beautiful beautiful set of squares for my quilt from my great friends Jen and Corinne... Its hard to be pregnant with a 2 year old!  AND tomorrow I will be 35 weeks pregnant!  I can't believe it.. seems like just yesterday I was 20 weeks and thinking it would be forever 'til the baby comes... now I am scrambling to make sure I have everything ready!  Funny how that works, huh?  Here is a new picture:)  I can't believe how big and beautiful my belly is... I am a little burnt out on Robin eggs anyway, lol!!  Darn Easter candy... Checked out the hospital, it is very cozy and nice compared to the one I delivered Daniel at and even has a private courtyard only accessible through the maternity wing:)  Gotta love that!  The birthing tub looks divine... I wanted to take it home with me but its bolted in, darnit.
