Ayashi No Ceres 101

This is just to give you a basic idea of what Ayashi no Ceres is about...mixed in with some of my opinions, of course. ^^;

Ayashi No Ceres is manga series by Watase Yuu consisting of 14 tankoubon (collected volumes) and a 24-episode anime that has almost finished its run in Japan. The anime was released on April 20, 2000 (Columbine shooting day...freaky). Seki Tomokazu (Chichiri from FY!) did doing the voice for Alex!

Anywayz, I have up to book 12 of the series, and I'm absolutely dying to get my hands on the last 2. Book 12 ended where **spoiler start** Aya transforms into Ceres in Kagami's office, where she is caught once again for experimentation. **end spoiler** My favorite character is, of course, Yuuhi (who looks a bit like Tamahome - but that's only one of the reasons I like him - he's the guy in the manga image above). Yuuhi is simply awesome. Hehe...it was so funny when he had to dress as a girl to attend an all-girl school during the search for the hagoromo. And it's so sad when Aya pushes him away because she's afraid Shiso, who took over Aki's body, will come after him (after all, he did break Yuuhi's arm). Yuuhi can tranform Ceres back into Aya with a kiss...and it doesn't help that he's in love with Aya while she's in love with someone else - Tooya! (He's the guy who has no recollection of his past) Though I would personally pick Yuuhi any day...Aya, wake up! If you don't want him, I'll take him! =ahem= now where was I...

The series is about these twins, Aya and Aki Mikage. On their sixteenth birthday, they are separated by their family, which tries to kill Aya because she has tennyo blood and therefore tennyo powers. She can transform into Ceres, a tennyo, who would try to destroy the Mikage family to get revenge on their ancestor, the fisherman (Shiso) who stole her hagoromo (a robe-type thing) so she couldn't return to the heavens and would become his wife. Gradually, Aki is taken over by Shiso (he doesn't seem to be able to control it as much as Aya can keep Ceres away...although Ceres does have the better personality...) and starts to come after Aya or, more accurately, Ceres in Aya's body. Sound confusing? If you'd like a better description/info about ANC, just visit some of the links below. Unlike me, those people write good summaries (plus you can read the manga translations!). This is a really really really fantastic series...or did I say that already? And of course, how can you doubt anything by the wonderful Watase Yuu?

• ***ANC ANIME FANSUB INFO***
  Finally, the fansub (from TV source tape) of ANC vol. 1 is done! It's being fansubbed by Naresome Studio and being distributed so far by Chiaki Fansubs, and should be available there within 1-2 weeks. Argh! I wish I was home so I could order it. ^^;

  BAD NEWS: Ayashi no Ceres has been picked up recently to be released commercially by Viz Communications, so the fansub has been pulled from distribution. I know, I know, grrrrrr.....we'll have to wait even longer to get it in North America! Oh well...the wait will definitely (or it had better) be worth it!
