Buffy's Chamber

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is THE number one tv show there is. Yes, it sucks that Angel's gone and has his own show now (which cannot compare to him being ON BVTS), but Buffy still kicks butt!!! As a devoted fan, you know I have to provide you with many, many interesting links. Hopefully you'll become a fan too if you aren't one already. ^_^

BUFFY SEASON 5 PREMIERE!!!
"Buffy vs. Dracula" (#5ABB01)
Tuesday September 26th, 2000 8/7C

THE LAST SEDUCTION:
Still searching for a normal life, Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is shaken by the awesome power - and more than a little star-struck - when she and her friends come face to face with the greatest vampire of all time, Dracula (guest star Rudolf Martin, "Bedazzled"). While Buffy is powerless under Dracula's thrall, Xander (Nicholas Brendon) becomes the dark one's emissary and leads his friends into peril. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Buffy, Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) is seriously contemplating returning to England as he feels she no longer needs his help. Alyson Hannigan, Marc Blucas, Amber Benson, James Marsters, Emma Caulfield and Michelle Trachtenberg also star.
Info from Buffy.com.

Just a note: Did you know that Sarah Michelle Gellar was originally cast as Cordelia? Ugh! Can you imagine?
Well, today was an...interesting...season finale of Buffy. It was definitely different from anything they've ever done before. I don't know if I really understood it, though. All I could decipher from the cheese guy is a reference to that old children's song "The cheese stands alone" but somehow I don't think that's it...anyway the "Apocalypse Now" thing kind of makes sense. Since that whole movie is based on "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad, it makes sense that in that, going deeper into the jungle on the journey toward Kurtz represented traveling deeper into the depths of the darkness of man's heart, and in Buffy, as each one of them (Willow, Xander, Giles, finally Buffy) went further into their dreams, they encountered the heart of darkness of the first slayer at the beginning and core of mankind. Does that mean anything to you? It's just a guess. And why was Tara such a key character in the dreams? Why did it seem like she knew about everything that was going on? Does anyone remember that time her and Willow were doing that spell long before they became a couple and Tara took and hid some of the stuff for the spell they were doing? If anyone has any other thoughts about the season finale, feel free to e-mail me.

SOME CHARACTER PROFILES:

BUFFY SUMMERS

  • She is the Slayer. She's also a college girl, and that's what makes for the conflicts between teenager fun stuff and her duty to fight against and destroy evil. Of course, she is the girl-powered heroine who almost always makes the right decisions and knows exactly what to do. Buffy's an amazing character; her strength and abilities never cease to amaze me. And Sarah Michelle Gellar is the best actress! But then there are times when you see Buffy as just a normal teenager...like how she's afraid to get hurt in another relationship after Angel and Parker. But I say Riley's worth it! I guess she thinks so too, since they can't keep their hands off each other...

    WILLOW ROSENBERG

  • Willow's this bookworm who always earns good grades, but she tries to shed her "nerd" image in college. She was going out with Oz before he left the show (BAD choice). She's a great friend though, always sticking by and sticking up for Buffy (like that whole thing w/Parker). And her being a witch now is pretty cool too...but I can't forgive her for choosing Tara over Oz! Poor Oz went through all that so he wouldn't change into a werewolf at the full moon and came back just for her, and what does she do? Reject him. For Tara, who I don't even like (not because of her sexual preference, just 'cause of her personality which is, shall I say...nonexistent???).

    XANDER HARRIS

  • Xander's just the all-around funny guy who slacks off and doesn't go to college. Instead he hangs around his parents' basement and works all sorts of jobs, while still helping (or thinking that he's helping!) Buffy fight evil. He's kind of the typical male, never really thinking or saying worthy things (except occasionally), but he's so innocently funny that I just want to give him a big bear hug! And don't you love him for being so loyal to his friends?

    SPIKE

  • Spike is just a hilarious character now since he can't bite (remember that episode where he kept trying to bite Willow? ^_^). For a vampire, he's not that bad. Of course, he does only watch out for himself and require blood on a daily basis and threaten to kill Buffy and her entourage whenever possible but...well, you just gotta watch him on the show to appreciate him!

    RILEY FINN

  • Riley's great. The first word about him that comes to mind is "oafish". But he makes a wonderful bf for Buffy, even though he slept with Faith in Buffy's body, because how could he have known? I for one, don't blame him...but then again if I were in Buffy's shoes I might feel differently at first. I'm glad Buffy and Riley made up in the last episode, though. Hopefully he'll be the first guy to have a lasting relationship w/Buffy (w/o breaking her heart or leaving!)...but considering the writers for the show...NOT likely.
