Mythology Resources

Mythology consists of the stories people created since the beginning of time in order to describe occurrences that they couldn't explain otherwise. Who knows? There might even have been some basis of truth in those myths. I mean, the Greeks and Romans and Egyptians had such faith in their deities that maybe some form of them really existed. Ever since I can remember, I've been interested in mythology. Not totally obsessed, "I need to memorize all the myths and characters and gods and goddesses," but normal interested, like "I love how this myth explains so-and-so." Anywayz, I had to do some reports on mythology a while back, so now I have a nice bunch of mythology links that might help you if you're just interested in it for personal interest or for some school project:

Ancient Egypt: the Mythology
- This is an extremely comprehensive site on Egyptian mythology, including info on myths, symbols, and deities.
Bulfinch's Mythology
- I'm sure you've heard of this...it has possibly every single myth known to man! It's a really good mythology resource, though the retellings of the myths are lots longer than mere summaries.
Water Spirit Legends
- This doesn't really have to do with the traditional deity/human mythology, but I thought it was interesting all the same. Who can resist a good story about mermaids?
On To Mythology
- This site is a great mythology resource for myths from all over the world.
Classical Mythology
- There's info on the Greek and Roman gods and goddesses, monsters and creatures.
The Greek Mythology
- Has everything you need to know about Greek mythology, art, history, etc. It also has 3 "guides" for you to choose from, which take you through the site wonderfully.
Encyclopedia Mythica: Home
- Tons and tons and tons of information on mythology from all over the world as well as image galleries for each. This site won't disappoint you!
