Hotohori is the 18-year-old emperor of Konan who also falls in love with Miaka, but ultimately accepts the fact that she can only love Tamahome. It is he who first asks her to seek the Suzaku Seven, in order to save Konan from destruction from the impending war against Kutou. His power is in his holy sword, which he later gives to Miaka to protect herself in her quest for the Shinzaho. Hotohori is the object of Nuriko's affection until Nuriko discovers he's now in love with someone else...Hotohori eventually does find happiness, though, with a Nuriko look-alike, Houki (a female!). He is an extreme narcissist and thinks he is the most beautful man there is, but that's just part of his charm. Also, the saddest, sweetest episode with Hotohori is in OAVII, the episode focused on Hotohori, Houki, and Boushin (his son)...definitely a must-watch!
