  The Volunteers

Homeless Emergency Project is fortunate to have a dedicated group of capable volunteers. Our volunteers are involved in most of the necessary functions of the shelter. They work in the Administrative Office, Dental Clinic, Thrift Shop, Clothes Closet, Kitchen and Food Pantry.

Who are these volunteers you ask? They come from every walk of life and include young and old alike. Most of our volunteers are retired and are now giving back to God and the community with thankfulness for some of the blessings they have received in their lives. Here are some examples of the ways in which our volunteers are contributing to the success of the program on a weekly basis:

  • Receptionists and Office Assistants

  • Truck Drivers and Assistants

  • Dentists

  • Hygienists

  • Thrift Shop Clerks, Pressers and Assistants

  • Cooks and Cooks Assistants

  • Food Pantry

  • Clothes Closet

  • House Keeping

  • Transportation

  • Beauty Shop

Other volunteers include:

Giving Thanks….

Noontime at the shelter is a time for the staff and volunteers to come together in the kitchen at the office and give thanks. Each weekday we enjoy a meal prepared by a volunteer or staff member. Friday is always a special home-cooked meal prepared by our volunteer Ruth Sullivan. We are grateful to Ruth and all the volunteers who make this program a success.
