Who Was Jesus?

Jesus was God in human form, and He made this fact perfectly clear throughout His entire ministry (see " Who Jesus said He was "). He never shied away from revealing His true nature, and He actually said that if He didn't admit knowing God He would be a liar just like the Jewish leaders of the time (see " "). He was never confused about His true nature and identity, and from the very start of His ministry, at every possible opportunity, He publicly professed that He was God. The Bible foretold that the Messiah would be both God and man, and these prophecies were fulfilled in the deity of Jesus.

Prophecy - "In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. But you remain the same, and your years will never end." (Psalms 102:25-27)

Fulfillment - (Speaking of Jesus) "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." (John 1:3)

Prophecy - "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." (Immanuel means "God with us") (Isaiah 7:14)

Fulfillment - "Then Jesus cried out, 'When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me.'" (John 12:44-45)

Prophecies -

Fulfillment - (Spoken by Jesus) "I and the Father are one." (John 10:30)

Prophecy - "'The days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.'" (Jeremiah 23:5-6)

Fulfillment -

Prophecy -

Fulfillment - "Jesus answered: 'Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, `Show us the Father'?'" (John 14:9)

Prophecy - "The LORD says to my Lord: 'Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.'" (Psalms 110:1)

Fulfillment - "While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 'What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he'?

'The son of David,' they replied.

He said to them, 'How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him Lord? For he says, 'The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.' If then David calls him Lord, how can he be his son'?' No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more questions" (Matthew 22:41-45)

Prophecy - "Seventy 'sevens' are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy." (Daniel 9:24)

Fulfillment - "The angel answered, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.'" (Luke 1:35)

Prophecy - "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy." (Psalms 45:6-7)

Fulfillment - "But about the Son he says, 'Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.'" (Hebrews 1:8-9)

Prophecy - "Then I took my staff called Favor and broke it, revoking the covenant I had made with all the nations. It was revoked on that day, and so the afflicted of the flock who were watching me knew it was the word of the LORD." (Zechariah 11:10-11)

Fulfillment - "If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." (John 14:7)

Prophecy - "I told them, 'If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.' So they paid me thirty pieces of silver. And the LORD said to me, 'Throw it to the potter'--the handsome price at which they priced me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD to the potter." (Zechariah 11:12-13)

Fulfillment - "When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me." (John 12:45)
