The 1900 census gives Ellen's birth date as November, 1851. Her tombstone says November 6, 1855. Her death certificate says Dec. 21, 1859. In the 1860 census she is listed with her parents as months old which would indicate she was born between November and December, 1859.spouse: Hill, Thomas J. (1843 - <1930)
var: Li Lu or Ly, single or double T, el or le, ton or tun, with the prefix "de" gradually disappearing in the late twelfth century.spouse: Unknown, Jemima (*1756 - )Most common modern spelling: Littleton-American, Lyttelton-English.
Duel derivative: Lytel-small and Tun-enclosure, dwelling, or settlement.
One of the oldest surnames in existance. Blood line origins from Normandy with the surname coming into existence in England to one of the warrior group led by William the conqueror in 1066. Surname prefix "de" distinction from the later Norman immigration wave.
The name was first known recorded when one John de Luttelton witnessed a land deed in Worcestershire in the year eleven sixty.
As the family extended through out the English speaking countries of the world, the Lyttelton's have retained, through the generations, their foundation as the Gentry and lower Nobility class of the English middle or midlands.
The first Littleton known in America was one Nathaniel Littleton, son of Sir Edward Lyttelton of Henley Shropshire England. He settled in what became Accomack County,Virginia in 1635.

[]spouse: Levell, William Edward (Leavell) (1867 - 1926)This is my Great Grandmother. She lived with my Grandad Levell (Oather) as long as I can remember. She was a very sweet person. She was crippled the last few years of her life. Drusillar and her Husband William Levell came to Kaufman Co., Texas in 1907 from Alabama. They later lived on South Mexia Road in Hill Co., Texas. I remember how "Granny" always dipped snuff. When she was younger she smoked a corncob pipe which was not all that unusual in those days.
[]spouse: Harrison, Nancy C. (1845 - 1918)The U.S. Census records of Shelby Co., Alabama for 1880 shows John D. Lowe and family. Mahala Flowers Lowe Norris was living with him at the time. This census record is on LDS film #1,254,031. Listed as Beat #6, page 337, dwelling #15, family #17 on line #1. Enumerated on the 22nd day of June, 1880.
[]spouse: Flowers, Mahala J. (1816 - 1899)John may or may not be his first name. All indications are that it is.
Burried in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, St. Clair Co., Alabama.spouse: Castleberry, James Henry (1861 - 1931)
[]spouse: Spruiell, Walter (*1865 - )Betty Lowe had many given names and would amuse children by quoting all of her names to them. Three different Census records show her as Mary E. Lowe. The 1900 Census shows her as Mary E., married to Christopher T. Norris and born in May 1875. Her middle name was most likely Elizabeth, and probably why everyone knew her as "Betty". At the time of the 1900 Census she and Chris had been married less than 1 year. The Census shows that Chris Norris had 6 sons at the time and that Mary had only one son (Robert Spruiell) by her first husband Walter Spruiell. Betty died while she was a patient in a Mental Institution at Vernon, Texas. She is buried in Hubbard, Texas.
CENSUS: St. Clair, AL; Dec 2, 1850; FHL Film # 442,866; pg. 453; Census data shows that Pinkney was 13 yrs old and living with his full brother John D. Lowe and step-father, Aziel Norris and Mother Mahala J. Flowers. Also residing in the house were his half-brothers + sisters by the name of Norris. DEATH: Pinkney Lowe was shot and killed for telling a joke about a man at a "Log Rollin' get together". The man threatened to kill the men for telling the joke but Pinkney didn't seem worried about it. The next morning Pinkney fixed a turn of corn and went to the mill. On his way home he was confronted by the man who had threatened him and was shot and killed. A possy was formed and they chased the killer down and killed him as he attempted to swim the Tom Bigbee River to freedom. This information was obtained from a letter written by Marvin Jackson and later given to Anita Falkner.spouse: Brewer, Rosana Jane (1839 - 1916)
