Blade Pro is a very versatile multipurpose filter which produces 3d effects
and those similar to metal, plastic, stone, ornate textures, mirror effects
and other assorted material. This filter is not freeware but is offered
on a time limited trial basis. It's initial design implements the use of
a console with various sliders which include such things as shape, radius,
height, smoothness, texture, reflection, glassiness as well as a few others
all of which produce different results when applied to an image. As an
extra bonus the filter comes with a large collection of pre-designed textures
and presets which you can begin playing with immediately after installation.
You can also produce your own textures, and presets and save them for future
use. In addition there is a randomize features which allows you to produce
some really interesting effects as well as gives you an idea of how many
of the sliders work. Besides the ability to save your own presets you can
use presets created by others and to aid you in this, there is even a Blade
Pro webring for those wishing to find additional presets or share the
ones they have created with others. While this version of Blade Pro has
a few more features than the older version and saves presets with a Q5Q
extension instead of a Q9Q extension, older presets may still be used in
this new version. You can download a trial version of Super Blade Pro HERE.
Additional Textures are available on the Flaming Pear site. There are 6
free texture collections in all for you to choose from.
Primas
is the freeware version of Blade Pro. It is a very simple filter which
comes with 16 presets built in. Unlike Blade Pro with it's many features,
Primus is very simple and has only one slider for the radius and no capabilities
for creating or saving your own presets. If you just want to dabble and
feel you can not afford the registration for Blade Pro, Primas may be your
best choice for adding a few 3D effects to web buttons etc.
