On May 7th, our Unit put on a very successful Roundup. Our
day began at 10:00 AM with demonstrations and presentations
every hour till 2:00 PM. There were a total of 17
sessions. During the day there were Dutch oven cooking
demonstrations being presented by Jennifer Fuller and Peggy
Wyly, with lots of samples. We also had a used tack sale
all day. Tickets were sold for drawings of a Dutch oven
set, power washer, feed bags, tanning sessions and more.
Some of our presenters were: Dennis Harfman, Paul Frisbey,
Diana Racklin, J.C. Adams, Alan Bickel, Vern & Marge Biehl,
Matt Sheridan, John Wyly, Stephanie Guyer from Purina
Mills, Phyllis Garcia & Flemming Bertelson from the U. S.
Forest Service. We appreciate and thank all these people
for donating their time.
We were fortunate to have the following sponsors: ABO Large
Animal Clinic (Dave Fly, DVM); Bayer Corporation; Dr. Craig
Gelfound, D.C.; Fort Dodge Animal Health; Golden West
Trailer Sales; Hemme Hay and Feed; Janice & David
Gantenbein, DVM; John & Linda Grimm, Lance Campers; Mike
Dispenza, State Farm Insurance; Oklahoma Carriage Company
(Mary Jo Steele); Palmdale Trophy; Pfizer Animal Health;
Purina Mills; Quartz Hill Nursery; Richard Hylton, DVM; T&C
Canopy & Equipment Sale (Protective Covers, Chuck Powell);
Van Dam Farms; The Equipment Center; and Wayne Marteney,
DVM.
At 3:00 we served a Barbecue dinner that was prepared by
John and Peggy Wyly. We served about 123 meals. This event
was a large success due to the many helping hands that
volunteered their time before and during the event. With
the backing of our sponsors, and after all the expenses have
been covered, we were able to show a profit of $764.86.
I can't begin to thank all those that helped make this such
a big success.
