The
Third day of the festival saw parades of popular music bands which
included local, regional and foreign folklore music and dancing troupes.
A
douar, which is a form of desert village, was reconstitu- ted on the
festival site to give visitors an idea of traditional communal life in
the Sahara under tents and in the open.
Exhibitions
and poetry contests were also part of the festivities, bringing back to
life the place and role of the poet and the craft of poetry in
highlighting the beauty of life in the desert.
Besides
the cultural events,
the
program of this festivities included scientific symposia on medicinal
plants in the region and veterinary medecine.
