We head out to the construction site early. The first thing I notice
from the parking lot is the once-stark bleachers, now draped in festive
banners and murals, topped with rainbow-colored tents and flags.
As we enter the stadium, I spy a newly-constructed wading pool, which tomorrow is sure to be full of laughing, splashing children. |

Inside vendors are filling the tents with all manners of wares... Tables
and chairs are being set up in all the shady places... The illusion
of beach is nearly complete. The only missing ingredient is the crowd
now.
