Brief Description (physical appearance & personality):
Kat stands about 5'7", and has short calico hair and colorless grey eyes. She tends to be happy go lucky, but has a bitter streak in her as well. Her loyalty is fierce, but so is her independence.

Special Abilities and/or Channelling Strengths:
Kat can't channel, but she can communicate with cats in a way similar to that of Wolfkin and wolves. Her feline companion is Shimmerswift, a grey-and-white cat with semi-long hair and ice blue eyes. He's what the cats refer to as a far-seer ("oel'cir-va" in the Higher Singing), and senses the ability in Kat as well. This makes her especially observant and gives her a kind of sixth sense.

History:
Kat was born and grew up in a small Andoran town between Baerlon and Whitebridge. She started out as a completely normal kid with too many cats, too many brothers, and a best friend named Larissa. Kat, being the youngest in her family, naturally had a tendency to take after her older brothers. She took this a step further by finally deciding to train in Tar Valon as a Warder. Larissa was quite perturbed with her, but Kat went anyway. She was about fifteen.

The girl worked hard and suffered through the rigorous cirriculum and harsh treatment by the other students. She attained full Warder status fairly quickly, but (being the outgoing person she was) got annoyed with the other Warders' reclusive tendencies. Kat took over when the Mistress of Kitchens decided to retire and run a little pastry shop in Shienar. Soon after this, Larissa inexplicably showed up at the Tower as a novice. Who would have guessed? It sure made the two girls happy.

Time passed, Larissa gained Acceptance, and the Purple Ajah came and went. With it went Kat, who heartily supported the Purple ideals. In the mean time, however, a White Aes Sedai had attached himself to Larissa and refused to give her up to the Purples as well--so Lissy didn't even notice Kat's absence for at least a week. She managed to get so pissed off at everyone and everything in the White Tower that they kicked her out. (Not that it wasn't coming, mind you!) Kat helped her find her way to the Purple base at the Moiraine Damodred High School, where Larissa enrolled as a Studè.

She bonded Kat once she was raised Ayende Vera. Haplo and Jak, their adopted brothers, got a kick out of that.

After the Purple Tower was rooted out of MDHS, Kat and Larissa had an interesting run-in with the World of Dreams at Shadar Logoth. Kat was rescued by a very special feline named Shimmerswift. Shimm (an oel'cir-va, or far-seer) noted something strange in Kat, and decided that he would stay with her and guide her growing abilities as a far-seer. Before this, Kat merely thought of herself as an "animal person," and never took special notice of the many occurrences of heightened feline affinity she'd experienced since childhood.

Kat and Lissy found the Purple Tower again, this time in New Manetheran. Haplo resigned as Head Warder, Kat took over that position, and Lissy filled in as the Kitchen Lady. Things went fine until Kat was pulled into a bubble of evil in her room that nearly killed her. She was rescued by a funny old man named Nabzif, but ended up stranded in a parallel reality, where she lived for a few months. Here, the bestiality that had been tightly restrained inside Kat finally broke loose, terrifying and disgusting her. She was healed by Nabzif, who is in actuality Tangloor Firefoot, cat god and protector. He replaced Kat's blonde hair with short calico locks and gave her a silver ter'angreal necklace with a green gem pendant as a reminder and warning to her.

He sent Kat back to her own world, and what is yet to come is still to be Woven into the Pattern.

Summary:
Kat grew up in Andor and lead a more or less normal life (except for becoming a Warder and joining the Purple Tower) until her run-in with a cat named Shimmerswift. While she was nearly always happy and chipper before the events this meeting triggered, she now has a bitter streak as well and can be a little cynical at times. She's extremely devoted to her best friend and bondmate Larissa, and misses her brothers, including Haplo and Jak, who disappeared somewhere. She's developing a strong sense of the mystic thanks to that cat as well.

Reading, reading, and more reading... writing, and constantly drawing (especially in the anime/manga style, which she's quite fanatical about). Dabbling in programming on the web, mostly home page design, but loves messing with her computer anyway. Loves cats and the out-doors, gets ocean withdrawal if she doesn't return often enough. ^_^ Christian, and still in high school. Currently taking French as a second language, but really really really wants to find a class in Japanese, and eventually Dutch. Shimmerswift is the online embodiment of her RL kitty, Sailor. (Shh! ^_~)
