Introduction

This is the home of the Purple Gaidin. Unlike the Ayende, we haven't changed our name--we are still Brothers (and Sisters) to Battle, even if that battle may be against our own from the White Tower. We stand for peace and honor to save what precious gifts we can for the next generation. Among us are some of the best fighters of the fourth age from every corner of the world, well-versed in the ancient weapons as well as modern ones. Right now our main job is to protect the Purple Tower and its inhabitants, and save the world every once in a while too. ^_^

How to become Gaidin
( or So You Want to be A Warder )

First, read the History Page. This is extremely important, even for die-hard Jordanites. The Purple Tower is located in Modern Randland, where the technology of the Wheel of Time world is equal to, if not surpassing, the technology of "real life." This page also gives you a quick look at the what the Purple Tower stands for, how and why it was created, and what's happened to it since the founding. You initiates will want to pay special attention to the Shadowspawn section as well.

Then, start getting your character in mind. For some good examples, browse through the Profile Page. You'll eventually make a profile for your character too, and all profs follow more or less the same format.

Now that you've got an idea of what you'll be doing, email myself and SianStudé Liagala and let us know you want to join. Li will brief you on the basics, telling you how to join the listserv and sending you your profile form. Soon you'll be receiving all the Purple Tower email and roleplays.

Go ahead and lurk for a little bit to get the feel of it all, but jump in as soon as you can. Since the Purple Tower is based on storyline and characterization, your character development will be the deciding factor in when and how you're raised. Don't think you can't have fun as a trainee, even if you're stuck that way for a while. We've had Studé and Nila who've stayed Studé and Nila for over a year and didn't mind a bit because it lent itself to the storyline. If you don't quite understand how character development can lead to being raised, check out Liam, my favorite example for this kind of stuff. Oh, and we don't haze newbies either, so don't think the time you spend as a trainee will be no better than reliving your frosh year in high school! ^_^

I'll be keeping an eye on you, but if you believe you have a valid reason to be raised early (or think I've forgotten you) please email me. Unless otherwise dictated by unusual circumstances, you'll be raised with this ceremony. I will perform bondings if you wish, but you and your bondmate are responsible for that ceremony. And no, you do not have to be a full Gaidin or Ayende Vera to bond.

Due to personal restrictions, raisings will commence either thru the Purple Tower chat room, boards, or Palace server, or via email, AIM, or ICQ.

About the Head Warder
( and her credentials )

My name is Katrin Roofshadow, and I'm bonded to Ayende Larissa. I was trained as a Warder in the Virtual White Tower, and was raised sometime in 1997. I was voted onto the High Council, but me and my family went thru a tragedy IRL and I had to leave... I was pulled back to the AOL boards later, and joined the Purple Tower when it was starting as the Kitchen Lady and a Warder. My brother Haplo was Head Warder, but he resigned and I took his place. The reason we're not very advanced at the moment is because after that, school started, then my family suffered another tragedy IRL... But now I'm working my best again to get this going. You can call me Kat. My character's usually pretty outgoing, but she's going thru a personal crisis at the moment ^_^ and may be a bit touchy.
