![]() Talisman - An object charged to draw a force, attribute, or entity.
Tantra - In the West, this term is typically used to refer to sexual yoga. May also refer to a mystical philosophy of India and Tibet, or the warp and weave of the universe itself.
Tarot - A set of cards typically used for divination and meditation. The "standard" deck contains 78 cards, 22 of which are trump cards called the Major Arcana. There are numerous variations of the Tarot.
Tattwas - Literally "that-ness." Typically used to refer to the five Elements.
Temurah - The practice in Qabalah of using pre-established codes and tables for the permutation of the letters of words or names in order to find meaning in the relationship of one word to another.
Thaumaturgy - Magick used to make overt changes in the material world.
Theurgy - Magick used to make changes for personal evolution and spiritual growth.
Thought-form - A mental image solidified in astral substance by Will applied to visualization.
Threefold Law - A belief common to Neo-Wicca that what a person does will return to them threefold.
Thurible - A shallow, three-legged dish used to burn incense.
Tiferet - Beauty. The 6th Sephira on the Tree of Life.
Triangle of Art - A triangular figure drawn outside the Circle, and to the East. It's primary purpose is to confine an entity which has been evoked to visible appearance.
Triangle of Manifestation - A positioning of the hands which forms a triangle.
True Will - A term used by Aleister Crowley for the quality of being in harmony with your nature and purpose.
Unguent - An ointment or salve.
Unwritten Qabalah, The - Qabalistic knowledge which is transmitted orally and never committed to writing.
Ve've' - A symbol drawn on the ground in Voudou ceremonies as a talisman or to attract the Loas.
Vernal Equinox - Another name for the Spring Equinox.
Vision - A prophetic or mental image which is received, typically while in an altered state of consciousness.
Visionary - Someone who is gifted with visions.
Visualization - The process of consciously forming mental images.
Wand - A stick or rod, typically up to 3 feet in length, which is used to direct energy. Typically associated with either Elemental Air or Elemental Fire, depending upon the tradition in question.
Waning - Decreasing, declining. The period of reduction from the Full Moon to the New moon.
Ward - A Magickal operation of protection or guarding.
Warlock - A word which is frequently, erroneously used to refer to a male witch or Wiccan. Its actual meaning is "oathbreaker."
Watchtowers - Also sometimes called the Directions or the Quarters. The four cardinal points which are each associated with an Element (typically East=Air, South=Fire, West=Water, North=Earth) which are sometimes ritually invoked as guardians of the Circle.
Water -The element typically associated with the West, as well as symbolically representing emotion, fluidity, and change.
Waxing - Growing, increasing. The period of growth from New Moon to Full Moon.
White-handled knife - See Bolline.
White Magick - This is a term frequently used to describe Magick which is done with a positive, or helpful intent. It should be realized that this term describes the intent behind a particular Magickal working, not any form of Magick itself, which is "neutral." May also refer to Magick done with the intent of gaining the Knowledge and Conversation of your Guardian Angel.
Wicca - A religious form of modern Witchcraft first brought to public attention by Gerald Gardner. As a general rule, all Wiccans are Witches, yet not all Witches are Wiccan. Wicca is a lineaged, oathbound mystery tradition.
Wiccaning - A Wiccan ceremony celebrating the birth and naming of a child.
Widdershins - Counter-clockwise movement.
Winter Solstice - December 22nd. The longest night of the year (in the Northern Hemisphere).
Witch - A practitioner of Witchcraft, whether male or female.
Witchcraft - An earth-based system of Magickal practice which may or may not have religious connotations.
