The essence of being MalkavianIndentThe question, "What is a Malkavian?" Is an often asked one, so I shall try to answer it as best I can.
IndentMalkavians are, one and all, insane. Some to greater degrees than others, but have no doubt, each and every one is insane. Most Houses call this a curse, believing us to be nothing more than fools. But we recognize the gift of insanity for exactly what it is, a blessing from Caine to our founder, Malkav. Our afflictions allow our to see through the masks of Kindred and kine society alike. After all, from madness comes wisdom, and wisdom is power. We have insight into things others don't, this isn't some big fangle dangle ritual that can be enacted only when the moon is at it zenith, or at certain times of year, that ends up taking longer than going through the experience you wish to learn about would. We simply know. We see things from a different angle. For example, if you are standing on the deck of the boat, that is all you know, the top. But if you were to stand on the side of the boat you would be able to see the deck and the hull. This is what we do, we stand on the side of life, so we can see both halves of it.
IndentBecause we have this advanced insight we feel a need to drag people away from their angle on life, so that maybe, just maybe, for half a second, they could see things from our angle. We do this by pranking. The closer the prank pulls them to our angle on life the better the prank is, and thus the more respect you earn. Most think us harmless pranksters and nothing more, let them believe this lie, it makes them feel better, and when they feel better they're easier to prank, simple is it not?
