Intranet 1 > Introduction

The purpose of the first Intranet project I worked on was to allow all the call centers for the company to share one source of information. I was the sole developer on the project. The backend consisted of Windows 2000 Server, Internet Information Server 5, Cold Fusion 5 Server, and SQL Server 2000. The server-side language used was Cold Fusion Markup Language (CFML) 5. The client-side languages used were HTML, JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and Dynamic HTML (DHTML) with DOM compatibility. Extensible Markup Language (XML) was used for communication between the server and client.

My part in this project was that I created the backbone and interface to the Intranet. I designed a User Management System to handle all login accounts for the site. Personal information could be added on the account holder for Human Resources and Payroll to utilize. Before I left the company, their were plans in the works for me to integrate the Intranet accounts with the company's Windows 2000 domain to synchronize the users.

I also designed a Content Management System to handle all documents posted to the Intranet. The content system allowed privileged users the ability to add, update, and delete documents for their specific area without the intervention of myself, the webmaster. The privileged users had complete control over the layout and organization of the documents.

There were many miscellaneous web applications I was asked to design to help eliminate tasks around the office that were still utilizing paper. Most of these applications were very similar in layout and functionality so I have only included screenshots of a few applications (Sales Tracking, Credit Requests, Credit Card). All of the task applications were built to integrate into the existing Intranet.

All of the above mentioned was powered by Windows 2000 Server, Internet Information Server 5, Cold Fusion 5 Server (CFML), and SQL Server 2000 (Transact-SQL). Not to mention many client-side languages like HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript, Dynamic HTML (DHTML) using DOM, XML, some ActiveX object calls.
